355ml brown bottle. Golden colour, clear pour. Fat and pillowy white head, good foamy rings in the glass. Nose has light sweetness, grapefruity hops, quick pine. Taste has big grapefruity hops, some moderate malt sweetness and slight tropical fruity note. Long finish with more grapefruit and pine, decent bitterness but not over the top. Medium body and average carbonation. Solid brew, very enjoyable.

Canada, eh? I knew hockey was awesome but who knew Canadian beer was awesome? This beer here is a nice dipa. Great hop aroma to go with a great hop taste. Palate is medium bodied making a easy drinker. Overall, I’m glad I got to try this. I would like to try Mad Tom. I bet it is solid as well.

Very nice imperial IPA. Poured a thick head and left nice lacing around the glass. Aroma was tropical hops and finish was a little dry but nice. At 8.4% you couldn't really taste the alcohol.

Loved the original Mad Tom, can;t say this is twice as good but definitely a strong brew. Light amber pour, medium frothy off-white head, good lacing. Nice sweet aroma, lots of pine. Tate is big and bitter pine backed up by a decent amount of sweet caramel malt.

Thanks to Steve for the bottle. Pours a light gold with a nice white head. Big aggressive citrus and pine aroma. Light malt body with big residual citrus pine hop bitterness in the taste Good stuff.

Bottle from LCBO. Should’ve checked the BB date - got it a week ago and it’s due already. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a fast dissipating creamy white head. The nose is... disappointing - the hops have faded, and giving an earthy note, yet I do get some sweet, unripe blood orange and malt sweetness, and resiny hints. Tastes along the same lines. But it’s light - the alcohol shines through, it really does. The thin crisp carbonation, the alcohol and finishing harsh bitterness don’t make for a successful trio. This one really seems to suffer from the past BB date (unlike the original Mad Tom, which was pretty nice). I’d give it a maximum 3.0, but as I sense it’s a nice beer if not the old age, I’m tweaking the score just a bit.
I know I’m still not being fair. I’ll try to get a fresher one and rerate.

Merci Mark! (1580-070915)

17/VIII/15 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from a trade @ home - BB: 7/VI/15 (2015-1096) Thanks to cards04 for the trade!
Note: whoops, didn’t see the bottle printing of the date when I got this one. Had I known, would’ve drunk it immediately, though I did save them in the fridge all this time. Another claim for brewers to put dates on bottles more clearly, if even at all.
Clear orange beer, aery irregular yellowish head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, marzipan, alcohol, fruity, sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, citrus touch, bitter, malty, marzipan, fruity. Aftertaste: very bitter, some mango, citrus, bit oxidized, malty.

On tap at MacGregor’s for Phil’s last week. Sweet and spicy aroma with caramel and citrus and pine. Clear orange amber under a white cover. Caramel malt with some resinous pine and faint citrus. Medium body, moderate carbonation with a lightly bitter finish.

I prefer Tom when he’s mad but not double mad. A bit too much Tom. Booze not well hidden in nose or taste. Absolutely no subtlety going on here. Grainy. Clear dark gold.

Bottle at tderoeck’s place. Smells almost like a barley wine, very sweet, malt, not an inviting smell. Taste is better than I was expecting, but it’s in no way on earth an IPA. Very sweet, malty, caramel character. However, not bad!
