COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While the legend of Mad Tom is laden with mystery and intrigue, one thing remains clear: Mad Tom did things his own way. Twice as Mad Tom is an aggressively twice-dry-hopped Imperial India Pale Ale, that delivers a definitive hop aroma & unabashedly big bold flavour. We brew this beer with the road less traveled in mind, and in the spirit of old Mad Tom...we make no bones about it.

355 mL bottle from the LCBO (Bank and Walkley, Ottawa). Poured a clear amber, with minimal head. Initial aroma was of fruit and pine. I was expecting a blast of hops, but instead it was quite mild. Nice pine and citrus hops, but not as bitter as I was hoping. Still, a pleasant beer with a solid malt backbone. The malt is warm and doughy, all in all a great beer and very drinkable!

This is easily one of the better imperial IPA’s I have ever had. Pours a hazy pale gold and has aromas of pine, citrus, and a whole lot of grapefruit. It’s a medium bodied ale with a light fizzy carbonation. The grapefruit really shines through upon tasting. There’s a perfect balance of malt and bitterness with a nice long finish. Very fresh tasting, no boozy flavor whatsoever.

Bottle. Pours a reddish amber, slightly hazy with supended hop particles, thin but lasting white head. Moderate carbonation. Spruce hoppy aroma. Taste is bitter, with spruce tones, over a sweet, thick malt base. Finish is bitter, with spruce and grass notes, and a lasting hop bitter burn. Very good.

Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, grapefruit, earthiness, light orange zest and a hint of lemon zest. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, grapefruit, earthiness and light pine with a crisp dry moderatly bitter lingering earthy finish.

Pour is slightly hazy orange. Strong caramel malt sweetness in the nose with some vanilla. Fruit aroma is grapefruit. Lots of pine and grassy hops. Strong resinous hoppy bitterness on the tongue. Strong sweet malt backbone with some fresh bread notes. Heavy brew. Fruitiness balances the bitterness with grapefruit and mango flavors. Chocolate and toffee notes at the end. Good brew!

355ml bottle from the LCBO. Light copper transparent body with very thin head. A hop profile on the nose that hits you from feet away. Noble hop: pine, grapefruit, citrus, floral bouquet. Very well balanced and intergrated for being double dry hopped and 8.4%. The hops are intense on the nose, however on the palate you can really get the hop nuances. Earthy, pine, grapefruit, subtle alcohol notes.

355ml bottle into a tumbler. Clear copper pour with a fluffy off-white head. Woody, grassy nose and a touch of citrus. Crisp and pleasant, alcohol well-hidden; light bitterness in the finish. Very pleasant!

Au nez, on sent une belle amertume, le miel/sucre avec un odeur de riches grains. En bouche, c'est riche et enveloppant. Je les aime plus fruité/floral que ça, mais j'apprécie tout de même le produit. La finale est alcoolisée et longue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle bought at the LCBO in Toronto/Canada. Overall a mind-blowing dIPA for me! The brew has it all. Malt, hops and bitterness aroma and taste perfectly balanced with a hidden alcohol character plus a bunch of fruits, citrus and grapefruits mild flavor. An excellent dIPA.
