Dark black unfiltered stout. Thick brown foam head that dissipates quickly. Dark bittersweet chocolate aroma some faint berry fruit notes. Fairly dry and simple flavour chocolate and malt. Alittle yeasty and spiriteous. Pleasing enduring aftertaste.

Drinking a bottle I got Christmas 2014. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and faint sour notes, that I can’t quite peg as cranberry. Taste is much the same, sweetness upfront, with a chocolaty body with vanilla and sour undertones, fading to a more distinctly cranberry backend, and a bitter chocolate aftertaste. Body is smooth and had some weight to it, but lighter than many of this style. From what I remember from other tastings of fresh bottles, a year of aging has softened the cranberry notes, and made this much more balanced. I liked this much more than I have in the past.

Pours is dark black with a medium beige head. Nose of coffee, chocolate and a bit of dark fruit (probably cranberry) and caramel. Medium sweetness creamy mouthfeel, small to medium bitterness at the end. A bit of alcool coming throught but not too much. So well balanced. Very good!!!!

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, light roast, vanilla, and a touch of cranberry. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and a touch of caramel. The finish has mild roast, vanilla, and a hint of cranberry. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Bottled. The body is almost black, the head brown and thick. It has an aroma with chocolate, fruits and hops. The palate is thick and oily. The taste has sourness of cranberries, with a deep chocolate at the end. Quite okey over all.

750ml bottle. Dark brown almost black color with beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, caramel, chocolate, licorice, light fruity. Sweet and bitter taste, some acidic notes too. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

750ml bottle shared with father in law. Aroma: chocolate, molasses, roasted malt, cranberries, alcohol. App: dark brown, medium beige head, no retention. Taste and palate: medium body, soft carbonation but tingling feeling on the tongue, light sweetness, fruity and light bitter finish. Overall: body is too thin for my tastes. Lacking in carbonation, not enough chocolate for something called a double chocolate stout. Dp after 3/4 of the bottle

Negra, opaca, densa. Alcohol bien oculto. Cuerpo medio, bastante bebible, pero resulta algo cansina.

Pure hibernal indulgence, this onyx heater brings it heavy. Dashing good looks, black with darkest red tints and a tan toque that leaves a trail. What a nice welcoming aroma billowing hither me nose; the namesake chocolate and cranberry take center stage, a supporting cast of rich espresso, dark rye bread, caramel, light leather notes and clean basement. Both bittersweet and slightly tart, dare I say somewhat sour, luxurious flavours abound in this bearded wonder. Extremely well blended, this hirsute libation has a nice oily feel with mellow carbonation. Damn is it good.
