3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle purchased at the LCBO on Rideau and King Edward (Ottawa) on March 1, 2013. Black, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate cream, slightly fruity with a touch of alcohol. The taste is exactly the same, but a little more alcohol, bitterness of coffee. As imperial stouts goes, it’s good but average!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle shared with father in law. Aroma: chocolate, molasses, roasted malt, cranberries, alcohol. App: dark brown, medium beige head, no retention. Taste and palate: medium body, soft carbonation but tingling feeling on the tongue, light sweetness, fruity and light bitter finish. Overall: body is too thin for my tastes. Lacking in carbonation, not enough chocolate for something called a double chocolate stout. Dp after 3/4 of the bottle

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Negra, opaca, densa. Alcohol bien oculto. Cuerpo medio, bastante bebible, pero resulta algo cansina.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pure hibernal indulgence, this onyx heater brings it heavy. Dashing good looks, black with darkest red tints and a tan toque that leaves a trail. What a nice welcoming aroma billowing hither me nose; the namesake chocolate and cranberry take center stage, a supporting cast of rich espresso, dark rye bread, caramel, light leather notes and clean basement. Both bittersweet and slightly tart, dare I say somewhat sour, luxurious flavours abound in this bearded wonder. Extremely well blended, this hirsute libation has a nice oily feel with mellow carbonation. Damn is it good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Édition 2013. Noir sombre avec un très petit col marron. L’arôme du chocolat et canneberges un peu sucré. Le goût à ses deux carecteristiqies et c’est très peu amer et assez sucré.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate and cream with subtle roast and a touch of cranberry. Some earthy minerality. Creamy mouthfeel with average cabonation. Moderate sweetness and a hint of tart, a bit thin in the body. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I really enjoyed this beer. Roasted malts with obvious chocolate and coffee flavour, slight cranberry hints but nothing overpowering. Fine offering from Muskoka.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is the 2013 edition (ratebeer, please start to differentiate these annual vintages with separate entries identified by release year), which was produced in 2012, aged by Muskoka for a full year, purchased by me in 2013, and then further aged by me for an additional year, trying it for the first time today.
Very dark brown , bordering on black with very slight reddish hilights in the light. One finger off off-white head, that leaves behind some truly beautiful lacing.
Aromas of chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Some cranberries, and I believe some mint hilights too.
A nice creamy palate introduces tastes of cocoa, vanilla bean, and a hint of red fruits dancing in the background on the swallow.
Between their aging and my aging, this is just velvet on my tongue. Good on you Muskoka for producing this gem.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Probably my favorite winter stout I’ve had this year. Aroma of dark chocolate and malts, smooth but strong chocolate taste, with just a hint of cranberry.
