Pours pitch black with a thin creamy mocha head that quickly disappears entirely. Aroma is of dark chocolate, roasted grains, liquorice, and a subtle but noticeable cranberry/cherry scent. Taste is mild, a little fruity and chocolatey sweet, not bitter at all really. Full bodied, thick and creamy on the palate, with soft carbonation. Overall a nice imperial stout, different but average.

Superb stout. The cranberry takes a while to kick in, but when it does it blends really well with the chocolate aftertaste.

Black pour with a tan frothy lace. Metallic fruit aroma. Roasted chocolate malt flavour. Not getting much cranberry. Smooth chocolate finish.

Achetée à la LCBO. Faible effervescence. Noir noir, non liquoreux. Note très prenante de chocolat et café espresso. Fruité et chocolaté. Palais de chocolat avec acidité moyenne.

Nice rich body with a very slight hint of cranberry finish almost unnoticeable unless you look for it. Not the best stout but still a very good pick.

2/23/13. Lobby ticking, RBWG. Black pour with a small khaki head. The aroma shows chocolate, raisins, cranberry, and prune with a touch of roast and cream. The flavor shows more roast and dark chocolate with a bit of that cranberry raisiny kick. Not bad.

Winter Beard was a slight disappointment. I think I was searching for the deep chocolate or cranberry tastes, but only barely came through at the ends. An excellent stout with extremely solid balance of sweetness and bitterness, but lacking the solid as-advertised chocolate cranberry flavors apart from the barest of hints on the back end.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours an opaque black with a bit of fine brown head that dissipates quickly. Smell is lots of chocolate and actually a hint of cranberry. Palate is on the heavier side of medium bodied with good carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet at first before getting a sweet dark chocolate kind of bitter and a hint of cranberry bitter/sour at the edges. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and long lasting. It’s just as advertised.

Opaque black brown beer with a short lived tidy tan head. Smooth semi dry palate. Chocolate gateaux and chocolate powder. Nicely balanced with mellow sourish fruit. Finishes with more chocolate powder. All right!

Bouteille 750ml.

Very good stout. One of my favorites. chocolate, caramel, roasty, alcohol, butterscotch. The aroma is more beer like than most chocolate stouts I’ve had but this is still a fantastic drink! I definitely recommend it!
