COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winter Weiss (Vice) was developed over a warm cabin fire, filling the void for a flavorful yet sessionable brew to enjoy during a long Winters night. This Dunkelweizen is deep brown with notes of clove and banana. Muskoka Winter Weiss partners the yeast and wheat character of a Hefeweizen with the malty richness of a Munich Dunkel. The result, a brew to enjoy all Winter long. Seasonally brewed and available in limited quantity, the perfect beer for Winter celebrations with friends. Nutbrown colour, largely clear, with bubbly head. Aroma is dried banana chips, sourdough. Have a sip and itís dry, bubbly, a bit tart even. Finish is dry, and quite off-putting for some reason. Too dry and bubbly to be rich, and too sharp to be refreshing.

355 ml bottle from a 12-pack winter-season Muskoka "survival pack" from Liquor Depot (with a free bronze bottle opener! yay!), christening a new second-hand glass addition to my growing collection...a Royal Caribbean cruise linerís two-tiered, inward-curved, flute-like, footed glass. Pours a deep brown but not black hue, with a small cap of mocha-colored, medium-sized bubbles, but it disappears with all haste and leaves no lace. A toasty host of caramel, vanilla, and strawberry/cherry meets the nose readily, while the flavor profile leans toward moderately sweet winter spices and red fruit infused festively into the lightly caramelized backbone of dark sugar and malt, and touches of vanilla and cocoa ride along in a tertiary mode. Like a good hefe, banana and grapefruit are present both in aroma and flavor; I love bananas, and I donít know why I fail so often to pick up on them immediately in ales. Moderate chewiness and a shortly-lingering vanilla finish ends a sip of this dunkel-inspired brew. Really good! It would pair well with a berry- or chocolate- based dessert, rather than being sweet or cloying to serve as its own dessert. Iíd happily drink this all year around.

Aroma of chocolate, clove, and banana. Opaque coffee-brown colour. Bitter front with fruity and spicy flavours, as well as a hint of chocolate. Medium body and high carbonation. Fine, but not too interesting.

A nice, full bodied brew with tons of malt. Toffee, caramel, nuts and light German esters. The pour is a dark, hazy brown with a thick off white head. Light spice and a few hop notes. A good balance.

Yechhhh! Tastes like those fake foam banana candies you can get for $0.05 but theyíre always rock hard because theyíre gross and no one buys them.

Deep brown with a thick tan lasting creamy head. Smells of banana, soft toasted malt, spice and caramel with some grass. Nice taste of cloves with caramel and wheat. Nice to drink with a easydrinking feel. Dunkel and weisse mix.

Part of their Survival Pack for fall-winter 2014. Pours an unfiltered copper colour with some amber highlights. The beige head is fizzy, so disappears quickly leaving no lacing. Aromas are fruity with notes of dates and bananas. Nice spices too in the background. The taste starts on the cloves, but finishes pretty quickly with not much lingering. Hints of apples, dark malts and bananas again. An interesting mix between a dunkel and a weiss, but lacking character overall. Not something I would have again, but glad I tried.

Bottle. Brown pour with not much of a head. Very complex fruity aroma and flavours, tons of fruit notes - berry, grape, some citrus and others. A very different but very tasty dunkel. Impressive.
