Winter Weiss (Vice) was developed over a warm cabin fire, filling the void for a flavorful yet sessionable brew to enjoy during a long Winters night. This Dunkelweizen is deep brown with notes of clove and banana. Muskoka Winter Weiss partners the yeast and wheat character of a Hefeweizen with the malty richness of a Munich Dunkel. The result, a brew to enjoy all Winter long. Seasonally brewed and available in limited quantity, the perfect beer for Winter celebrations with friends. Can. Big tan head, fades quickly, nice lace. Very hazy, very dark brown. Banana, clove, faint roast, high carbonation, medium mouthfeel, slight metallic, sweet grainy finish.

0.473 can. Cloudy, dark brown color and a small, off-white head. Aroma of bananas, clove, and a few citruses. Taste of wood, smoke, malts, and some very delicate bananas. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation. Finish is also woody, somewhat smoky, with a delicate herbal bitterness. Overall not much of a Dunkelweizen.

Pours mahogany with a tight off white head. Soft cocoa, slightly smoky clove spice, a hint of banana and light caramel. Subtly sweet with a relatively clean finish. Average plus mouth feel, light to medium body and high carbonation.

More Dunkel than weiss for sure. But a tasty fall/winter beer. Got a hint of clove and banana. Just smooth tasty beer. If anything it seems a bit thin, more body would make it a better brew. I will be here again

On tap at Pub Italia. Pours a small frothy brownish head and has a dark brown appearance. Lacing is not bad. Aromas of sweet malts. Flavours of dark fruits, sweet malts, hints of cinnamon. A little bit of hops come through. Slight warming sensation. Good retention.

Nutbrown colour, largely clear, with bubbly head. Aroma is dried banana chips, sourdough. Have a sip and it’s dry, bubbly, a bit tart even. Finish is dry, and quite off-putting for some reason. Too dry and bubbly to be rich, and too sharp to be refreshing.

355 ml bottle from a 12-pack winter-season Muskoka "survival pack" from Liquor Depot (with a free bronze bottle opener! yay!), christening a new second-hand glass addition to my growing collection...a Royal Caribbean cruise liner’s two-tiered, inward-curved, flute-like, footed glass. Pours a deep brown but not black hue, with a small cap of mocha-colored, medium-sized bubbles, but it disappears with all haste and leaves no lace. A toasty host of caramel, vanilla, and strawberry/cherry meets the nose readily, while the flavor profile leans toward moderately sweet winter spices and red fruit infused festively into the lightly caramelized backbone of dark sugar and malt, and touches of vanilla and cocoa ride along in a tertiary mode. Like a good hefe, banana and grapefruit are present both in aroma and flavor; I love bananas, and I don’t know why I fail so often to pick up on them immediately in ales. Moderate chewiness and a shortly-lingering vanilla finish ends a sip of this dunkel-inspired brew. Really good! It would pair well with a berry- or chocolate- based dessert, rather than being sweet or cloying to serve as its own dessert. I’d happily drink this all year around.
