(On tap) Slightly hazy amber with an off-white head leaving some laces. Exotic, spicy and enticing aroma. Medium body with light notes of caramel, exotic fruits and a dry and fairly bitter finish. Incredibly flavourful for such a light beer. 290108

Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy brownish amber, no head. Strong spicy aroma - I get cinnamon and ginger. Light bodied and medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel. It is rather fruity and has some late herbal bitterness. An interesting beer.

Draught at Galbraiths (Auckland), a cloudy light brown with a creamy off-white head. Strong ginger aroma, with some honey and lemon. Strong ginger flavours again, on a smooth palate with a gentle floral hop kick in the finish. A sap presence, and a little grainy as well. A little bit of a let down after the long wait.

On tap at the inn. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white diminishing head. Somewhat sweet with a light bitterness. Aromas of citrus, honey pineapple and resin. Hint of spruce. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish.

This beer is fermented with manuka tips, which give the beer a medicinal, spicy aroma and herbal flavour to match. Although I’m not a huge fan of the style, it reminds me of Faroach Heather Ale.
