330ml bottle from the brewery. 1st gueuze I think I’ve had but is exactly how I’d imagined it to be. Lovely soft golden colouring, decent but receeding small white head. Aromas of rich tartness, stone almost sour nectarine and a touch citrus, nice woody brettness too. Sweet/sour flavours, wheat backing, dryness and again real sourness in the finish. Funky best describes this - not a 6 pinter but challenging and intreugng all the same.

(Bottle 33 cl) Danish beer bottle! Slightly hazy golden with a small, rough, off-white head leaving laces. Tart, Bretty aroma. Quite a light body, lightly tart accents but in a very subtle and pleasant way. Dry finish. A very lovely beer. The brewer confirmed that this is genuinely spantaneously fermented. 310108

Tasted 31/01/2008. Bottle direct from the brewery, courtesy of Papsoe. Pale gold, bright, with a thin white head and a soapy lace. Fantastic funky brett nose with a nice mixed medally of sweet and sour fruit in behind. Very very nice. Off-dry and fruity in the mouth, spring-like, with a very nice balancing sour and funky middle-finish. A little wheat-like mealiness on the palate, followed by a slightly astringent warming character. Beautiful drop, perfect for warm summer afternoons, and one of the most interesting New Zealand beers I’ve ever tried.
