Pours a hazy amber with a small white diminishing head. Nice lacings. Sweet and very bitter. Heavy malt aromas of grain. Some alcohol notes. Bitter finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a slightly hazy golden with a creamy, off-whitehead leaving a neat, broad lacework. Aroma of fruit, diacetyl and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with a very soft and velvety mouthfeel, lots of fruit and a whiff of Belgian yeast. The finish is astringent and alcoholic. 310108

Tasted 31/01/2008. Direct from the brewery, courtesy of Papsoe. Cheers! Pours a brilliant pale rose gold with a just off-lacy white head. Sea spray dry hop character and spice on the nose. Some alcohol and ripe stonefruit in behind. Lucious malt sweetness in the mouth, carried by velvety full weight and soft carbonation. Justa little hop flavour anda very mild bitterness. Becomes a little too warming and phenolic in the finish. More Belgian than English, for me.

Bottled. Cloudy amber, very small head. Hoppy aroma of melon and mango. Medium sweet and near full bodied with soft mouthfeel. The bitterness is surprisingly low after all the hop aroma. A full sized ale displaying NZ hops, but perhaps not the most complex of their beers. Mussel Inn however rank as one of the most charming locations to have a beer anywhere.
