This beer is a blonde ale that we’ve been aging in barrels. After an initial fermentation with Abbey yeast, we added Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and then fed that Brett Brux with cherries over the course of four months. We added another 40 lbs of tart cherries when we were kegging to create Mystery’s first neo-Kriek.

Tap at beer study. Cloudy, murky, layered reddish orange with a light ring of lace. Nose shows some tart cherries but also some light buttered popcorn. Flavor is light bile, tart cherry, cherry skins, light butter. Supposedly this has improved a bit since the original keg was tapped. Okay, but still needs work.

This poured an orangish red color with no head. The aroma contains tons of cherries and vinegar with a hint of citrus and funk. The flavor is really sour and tart with more cherries and vinegar flavors. The aftertaste is very sour as well. Overall I really enjoyed this one.

Tap at Beer Study. Pours a rich and cloudy ruby red with a thin head. Nose shows diacetyl/feet. Pedio bomb... Bright cherry notes on the edge of the nose and flavor. Nice immediate front of mouth acidity followed by an intensely funky/feet character. Lots of ’buttered popcorn’ Jelly Belly flavor and dirty socks. Some kind of bacteria gone wrong.
