3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear very dark mahogany brown body with a small tight bubbled creamy beige head that faded to a wispy film. The aroma is strongly fruity with intense notes of plum and dark cherry. Heavily malty, lots of dark caramel and a bit of alcohol. Moderate yeast influence. The flavor is less sweet than I was expecting, with lots of plum and fig fruitiness. Finished with a moderate alcohol kick and a lingering dark chocolate like note. Not quite as layered and complex as it’s classic Belgian counterparts. Still, pretty solid stuff. Full bodied and chewy with light soft carbonation and a big of cling on the back end. Interesting beer, wouldn’t pick it over a Rochefort or Westy, but worth trying.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle purchase at Redstone Liquors back in the summer. Deep dirt brown color with fast vanishing head. Aroma is deep layers of plums, dates and Belgian candi sugar.
The flavor is much like the flavor. Lots of caramelized malts, sugar and yeast. Body is a tad on the lean side. ABV is totally masked. Tasty but real pricy for a 375 if I recall correctly. Seems like the price of every brew is raising... Anyhow if you like the style go for it!
