Saison ale brewed with cranberries.

Long ago, the Three Cranes Tavern looked over marshlands of a young Boston. It brewed and served beer for more than 140 years before it burned down over 200 years ago.

Harking back to the time when noble Sandhills Cranes roamed cranberry-filled marshes. This beer pairs seasonal beer-making traditions with out native fruit - freshly harvested from a small Massachusetts cranberry bog.

Yeasty fruity aromas. So cloudy you can barely see through it. A bready start flows into a tart cranberry and then coriander spice finish.lastings moisture on the pallet.

Bottle. Pours with a hazy peachy orange hued body with a white head that lasts. Aromas are of grass and hay, medium carbonic, some phenols, tannins, red wine grape skins, some herbal/spicy hop notes. Flavors are of some tannin, medium bitterness, bready/biscuity/doughy malt structure, light yeast esters/fruit notes. Herbal, on the bitter side of things. Medium acidity. Fruit flavor is more a shadow than directly cranberry. Quite bitter/tannic on the palate. Lively carbonation.

Bottle I took to James’ for the multi-K tasting. Pours a slightly pink amber with a medium sized white head. Soft grainy musk, a bit of cranberry, but I’m searching hard. Medium bodied, sweet musky wheat, a bit more dried cranberry. Tasty, but a bit on the light side. Faintly tart into the finish, soft cranberry bitterness. Tasty.

Bottle shared at the 11k/7k/5k. Aroma is lemon, cranberry and barnyard. Pours light peach with nice bubbles and a big fizzy head. Taste is lemon zest, cranberry sauce, grains of paradise, and slight barnyard. The cranberry is kind of in the way of a great saison, like I poured a saison into a glass that I didn’t realize wasn’t quite empty of cranberry juice cocktail. Nice though. Would drink again.
