This isn’t a very good beer, but its better than the regular. Has much of the same character, with a reddish tint to it, a slightly sweeter taste, and the same stale aftertaste.

Bottle. A sweet and drinkable lager. A welcome change to pale lager when in Greece.

Pours reddish-brown with a frothy off-white head that stays a while. Smells a bit sour, like skunky corn or Budweiser. Taste is sour with malty sweetness underneath. Medium body, decent carbonation. Nothing to write home about, but I’d take one on a hot day.

September 2008: Poured into a straight tumbler on the balcony of my hotel overlooking Chania Harbour on the Island of Crete. A setting hard to beat anywhere in the world. The beer was a sparkling Teak Wood Red colour with an off-white head on top which soon fell away to a wisp and a collar. An aroma of toffee, caramel and sweet molasses hit my nose. A pleasant sweetness that didn’t put me off like some sweet smelling beers do. The taste was of dark toffee and treacle, the caramel was there too, but again it wasn’t overly sweet. The beer is thin and watery actually and a bit of a let down after the intial smells and first couple of sips. What I thought and hoped I’d found wasn’t up to stratch in the end, a pity.

Earthy malt in the aroma. More caramel malt in the flavor, with some carbonation for balance. Nothing special, but a good, easy-drinking beer. Better than I expected given the rating.

Eh. The nose is a mixture of hops and malt, but not distinguished at all. The beer is a reddish brown with a thick lacy head. The flavor is moderately bitter floral hops with a hint of toast malt. The beer is clean, but a little flat.

Clear ruby to copper beer, thin white head. Very sweet, almos cloying malt flavor with sweet fruitiness (cherries?) and slightly soapy hops. Flavor is surrisingly much drier, bitterish and slightly acidic. It has nice dryfruitness, like unripe fig of plum. Pleasantly bitter finish with a hint of nuttiness. A bit fizzy carbonation. Quite light palate. Refreshing and a bit different beer.
