Ungstrup (10419), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 19, 2005 Updated: Jun 5, 2007An unclear dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet very malty and quite roasted. The flavor is roasted with notes of coffee and with a dry roasted end, but unfortunately the body is thin. Thanks to the brewery for supplying this for free for RBESG. omhper (9704), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 24, 2006 Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm.
Black. Aroma of grapefruit and licorice. Medium sweet with rich, dense malty body. Plenty of coffee and chocolate, perhaps a hint of molasses. The bitterness is marked but gentle. Hearty and very well balanced. Earlier Rating: 6/15/2005 Total Score: 4.3 Cask conditioned at Akkurat, Stockholm. Very black, small beige head. There’s loads of coffee and chocolate both in the aroma and the flavour. It’s very soft and velvetty with balanced sweetness and lots of roasty malt. Lingering, really bitter finish. Flavours are dense and concentrated, and the malt profile is superb. At this point I dub Närke Kulturbryggeri the best microbrewery in Scandinavia currently. It’s just a shame that their beer is so awkward to find. Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 16, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Very dark, almost opaque with a small, light brown head. Lightly roasted aroma. Light-bodied with notes of burned malt but surprisingly fresh. 120805 sk8viking (5995), Copenhagen, Denmark May 18, 2006 Bottle at Haket, Göteborg. Earlier Rating: 8/22/2005 Total Score: 2.9 Bottle. Black colour with a baige head. Roasted chocolate coffee aroma and taste. Medium body and a thin finish. argo0 (5860), Washington DC, USA Aug 23, 2005 (RBESG05, bottle) Cola body topped by a tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee. Taste is the same. Light-medium body that is refreshing, especially compared with most coffee beers.
