Commercial Description:
A dark brown English ale, in which classic English malts meet the spicy hoppiness of the new world. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Goes very well with ‘pub grub.’

Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, chocolate, brown, amber, and caramel malt; Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

11°P, 27 IBU, 4,5% ABV.

Thanks to akevitt for sharing. Pours a cloudy, dark brown body with off-white head. Aroma of malts, yeast, and bread with a hint of hops. Body seems a little weak and watery. Flavors of burnt malts, coffee, and hops. Aftertaste is clean and slightly watery with coffee and burnt malts.

Surprisingly strong brown ale for a 4.5 abv. This is my first offering from Nogne, and I’m very impressed. Usually not a fan of brown ales, I am impressed by this one due to its unique hopped aftertaste but minus any citrus that would be unwelcome in such a beer. Well done.

IT’S SO CLOSE!!! It looks how a brown should look, and tastes how one should taste - very nicely and generously roasted, dry, full. But the finish is made abrupt by the sharpness of the hops. Still, another very nice installment from our Scandinavian friends.

Pours a clearer dark reddish brown with a thin fine wispy tan head. Aroma of molasses, varnish, some alcohol, a touch of coffee. Light easy drinking flavor, off-dry, molasses, slightly toasty, simple but well balanced. Some chocolate in the finish. Light body, sparkling carbonation, very airy.

500ml bottle from ICA. Pours very dark brown, almost black with small tan head. Almost porter-like aromas, with chocolate and coffee dominating. The taste is thin compared to the nose. Almost watery. With so many other great beers available from this brewery, I probably won’t buy this again

There’s a weird whisky barrel flavor in this one that I just can’t figure out. I had this one just after the Mikkeller Jackie Bown and while I thought that one had just the one flaw of a bitterness that didn’t meld with the rest of the beer, it was a better brown ale than this one. I was actually expecting a lot more after some of the other Nogne O’s, but this one just came across as watery and oddly alcoholic.
