16.9 oz bottle 12/27/08: Dark garnet reddish brown with a lasting, but thin tan head. Caramel and raisins are dominant up front. Brown sugar and some nutty and woody notes with a touch of alcohol as well. Toasty malt gets stronger as it warms with a bit of winey aroma. The initial flavor is toasty malt, raisiny fruit being strong, very caramel with a lightly hop flavored finish that is semi sweet. Toasty with a touch of roasty flavor in the aftertaste with some hints of molasses, as well as herbal hop. The aftertaste also dries out a bit and is a touch acidic. Smooth, well hidden alcohol, medium full body, and medium carbonation. This one is definitely worth some of the hype! Malty for the most part, but herbal hops balance to keep it from begin cloying, and has a very well thought out malt complexity.

Oct 3, 2008 Winter ale bottle, I believe it was via trade. Pours dark dark pretty much black with a tan head. Nose is roasted and sweet but light on the aroma. Taste is sweet malty and overall quite tasty.

Oct 3, 2008 Very dark pour, with a thick mocha head. Looks like a porter. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol, and a tiny bit of hops. Flavour is thick, and loaded with roasted malt, and some caramel, but ends with a big alcohol wallop. A definitive sipper.

Oct 2, 2008 Brewed in Norway !! This ale pours a dark brown / black color with a dissipating tan head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, and chocolate. The taste is of dark malts, chocolate, spices, and a hint of coffee. The mouthfeel is robust and kind of sweet but finishes a bit on the dry side. This was a yummy brew from Nogne...... :)

does not count  Sep 30, 2008 Dark and scary looking. Almost glutinous as it comes out of the bottle. Sticky, sweet, thick, cloying. Pretty unpleasant.

Sep 11, 2008 22oz bottle. Very dark pour, tan head. Not much of an aroma really, can’t make much out. Pretty good flavor, dark and fruity, not bad.
