fiulijn (5880), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Mar 18, 2008 Bottle at Svea, Malmö Hazy amber color. The malty aroma is lightly fruity and candied. It has a good body, with a good sweetish caramel flavor, spicy (coriander); but the yeast is not my favorite. Quite strong bitterness.
dchmela (775), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 3, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours a caramel amber with a small head. Big hop aroma, lots of citrus and slightly grassy notes as well as some malty caramel. Smooth caramel malty taste with lots of spicy hop brilliance. Very balanced and sneaky strong. Interesting, but nothing special. Beerlando (1352), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 Updated: Aug 29, 2008Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours a dark and cloudy caramel brown color. A small, foamy, off-white head leaves virtually no lacing behind. Aromas include caramel, figs, dates, and brown sugar covered hazelnuts. There’s a decent amount of earthy spice in the background, taking a bit of the sweet edge off. The flavor is along those same lines, but seems t be a bit more muddled. The fruity and nutty elements seem to just fold into the caramel sweetness. Medium-full bodied, the mouthfeel is substantial but overly carbonated. Overall, this is a decent and drinkable brew, but it is plagued by multiple flaws that keep it far away from the "special" category. mybestfriend (250), Gothenburg, Sweden Aug 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber colour with an off-white head. The aroma is fruity with lots of citrus fruits and some soft notes of malty caramel and yeast in the background. Very nice! The flavour has some malty sweetness and it begins with loads and loads of perfumy yeast and bitter hers that transform into notes of american hops after a while. You do not feel the alcohol. At first I did not like the flavour - I thought that it was way to yeasty - but as it transformed into notes of american hops I started to enjoy the flavour more and more. Cloudy amber.
A little smoke, lots of fruitiness. Apricots, spice, a little yeast.
Well balanced, another fine beer up to the standard we expect from Nøgne ø. Jonte (402), Gothenburg, Sweden May 24, 2008 Bottle. Orange color with an off-white head. Sweet and fruity aroma with notes of belgian yeast, banana and spices. Sweet and fruity taste with notes of belgian yeast, banana, alcohol, spices, and caramel. Not my kind of beer.
