Ungstrup (10863), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2005 A black beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with both herbal and flowery notes, but also a lingering acidity in the background. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of violet candy sugar used for cakes in the beginning, but then turning towards roasted malt and chocolate in the end. Nice. omhper (10145), Stockholm, Sweden May 23, 2006 [Bottled at Københavnske Øldage] Black, no head. Licorice aroma. Densely malty with ffull body. Plenty of salt and tar as well as tobacco and dark chocolate. Very salty finish. Intense and flavourful, perhaps a bit rough. Papsoe (9774), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 20, 2006 (Bottle 50 cl) Completely black and opaque with a creamy, light brown head leaving some laces. Fat, malty aroma. Full-bodied with shiploads of roasted malt - hard roasted but not really burned. Ends - surprisingly - on a rather mellow note. A very smooth Imperial Stout. 170406 Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 8, 2006 Updated: Mar 25, 2008re-rate: Almost black. Thin head. Chocolatey, slightly vegetal character with a hint of deep coffee. Rich and stinging in intensity, but with an alcohol signature. Some espresso crema character. A touch underdeveloped, but not so bad. 6 4 7 3 13 = 3.3
Original rating: Pretty close to pure black. Rich aroma is very fruity (plum, raisin) and slightly lactic with loads of meaty roastiness. Very rich body, chewy, with dense fruitcake and well-integrated roastiness and treacle. 8 4 8 4 16 = 4.0 joergen (6148), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2005 Bottled.
