Delicious. Tried this one after a disappointing left hand milk stout. Full, rich, slightly acidic. Chocolate, smoke, and a bit of bitter fruit is present throughout. Slightly harsh, and a surprising amount of hop for a porter. Overall, a wonderful brew. If it ever costs less than $11 a bottle, I’ll buy more.

Sep 3, 2008 Bottled 50cl. It pours a pitch black beer with a full beige head. Good head retention. Some nice lacework. Sweet nose which is mainly of pumpernickel and roasted malt accompanied by grapefruit. The taste is of roasted malt, pumpernickel and rose. Sweet. Some tar and licorice showing up. Good bitterness. Nicely balanced. The finish is rather pleasant with hints of pumpernickel, grapefruit, syrup and rose. Thanks a lot larsga for this beer!

Aug 28, 2008 Small head on a black body. Plums and cocoa aroma. Roasty espresso, cocoa, bitter chocolate with light milky sugary sweetness. Medium body. Enjoyable.

Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Dark brown/black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, a bit musty. Flavour is bitter, roasted malts and strong coffee, some dark chocolate, slight sweetness. OK porter, but expected a bit more.

Aug 22, 2008 Deep brown in color with a moderate head. The nose shows hoppy aromas of chocolate and coffee beans. In the mouth it is on the hoppy side which comes off as light-on-its-feet. I would prefer a bit more mid-palate concentration and flavor but this is well made and balanced.

Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Pretty much black with a decent brown head although without much lacing. Aroma is dark roasty malt, chocolate, and coffee. Lovely mild sweetness and goes down very smooth with a slightly dry aftertaste. Very good.
