redlem (1103), Illinois, USA Jun 27, 2008 Updated: Jun 28, 2008 poured with almost no head formation or retention in my mikasa goblet, a flat saison? a little too medicinal for me as i get alot of bandaid in this. strong belgian yeast notes. overall it is difficult to drink and not refreshing. seems more like a tripel than a saison.
blutt59 (685), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 bottle, cloudy golden color, wispy ring for a head, nose is sweet and flowery, flavor is sweet spices with an odd bitter metallic undertone, finish is dry bitbucket (1542), Kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy dark gold with a thin and frothy white head. Sort of a lemon, fruit, honey and coriander nose, with coriander being the main wheel. Same thing going on in the taste. Lightish body, moderate carbonation. Dry and a little watery at the end. Seems a bit heavy on the hops (comparatively speaking) for a Saison. Aroma - Citrus, honey, some spice,
Appearance - Mildy hazy yellow pour, rather paltry, fleeting, white head with sparse lace.
Flavor - Sweet light malt flavors initially, some light tartness, and the gentlest of spicy bitterness at the finish.
Palate - LIght body and carbonation, barely dry palate
Overall - Of the Nogne O beers that I’ve had, this is the least inspired, IMHO. Although it’s very drinkable, and has a certain refreshing quality, it’s just not very flavorful, tart, and dry as a really good saison. JMFG (1140), Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Hazy dark straw color, thin, sparse white head. Mild herbal aroma of lavender and coriander, some white pepper. Nice mouthfeel. The herbal flavor initially tiptoes towards a leafy astringency and finishes mildly peppery and dry. Not bad. beerbill (1271), Laurel, New York, USA Aug 10, 2008 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with a thin white head that faded to a ring after two sips and left virtually no lace. Mild aroma of wheat and a few citrus notes detected as well. The flavor is mild wheat with some lemon and, to a lesser extent, orange. Some spice in the flavor as well, although I cannot pick out the specific spice(s). Mild bitterness at the finish. An ok beer, but not worth the higher price.
