larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway May 13, 2008 Medium brown head does not last. Opaque black body. Acidic burnt chocolatey aroma. Sweetish soft burnt licorice taste. Smoky burnt licorice starts immediately and lasts all the way through, lingering for a long time; wonderfully clear and distinct. Dry chocolatey notes in aftertaste. Very very good. JohnC (1735), Mission Viejo, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 black pour, tan head, the flavor and aroma are a nice combination of coffee & chocolate with sweet finish janir (157), Oulu, Finland Aug 2, 2008 Very deep, almost black color with dark brown head. Aroma is dark chocolatey, roasty malty and very much coffeey. Flavor is same: chocolate(,) malts and coffee. Also some liqueur-like flavor. Medium-bodied, oily, low and smoothly carbonated palate. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottled.. been sitting in my fridge for a while b/c of the price tag ;) Poured deep brown with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter coffee and semi-sweet chocolate with a moderate, and well-balanced overall roast.. a bit of molasses and anise as bit players.. perhaps some toasted oats in there as well contributing to the sweetness.. quite delightful! The flavor had sweet, lightly-roasted coffee at the core with milk chocolate and flaked oat sweetness surrounding.. licorice gave a little spice around the edges.. espresso bitterness and refreshing sweeter coffee on the finish. Medium-bodied with low carbonation and a slow, sweet movement across the palate.. enjoyable finish. Very good stuff! badgerben (3040), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jul 28, 2008 Black color with a thin, quickly disappearing head. Strong espresso and chocolate malt aroma. Espresso dominates the flavor. Some heavily charred malt as well, bordering on astringent. Light pine hop flavor. Thin body. Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 23, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ogglethorp and again to Tony at Oldsmar Tap House: This is a well-crafted sweet stout, but those expecting espresso -- or any huge coffee presence-- will be disappointed.
