Ughsmash (2835), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 17, 2005 Hand-bottled at the brewery by the incomparable sk8viking! Arrived in Wisconsin in perfect condition. Pour was a beautiful clear deep ruby with copper highlights. This was even able to produce a medium almost-whipped creamy off-white head after about 12 days out of the tap! Aroma was exquisite, with powerful grapefruit, sweet caramel-type malts, and an excellent spice bouquet. First impression on the palate was surprisingly creamy and smooth. Alas, the expected hoppy bitterness was not far behind. That picked up toward the middle with grapefruit and assorted spices, and carried through to the exceptionally long-lasting finish. Very solid sweet malt backbone and perfectly carbonated. This was true brewing excellence, and an almost perfect example of a U.S. brewer-dominated style. This is worth a trip to Copenhagen.
JFURYCAT (705), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 NEPA case club rocks again as do our buddies in Stockertown. This English style malt bomb marries a hop garden and delivers an orgasm of molasses, pine, grapefruit, cherries, currant with a port-like almost barley wine alcoholic warming to complete the mix. A nice pine cone bite in the end accompanies the initial sweet maple sugar invite. KnN (220), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jul 18, 2008 Nice deep copper color with a thick of white head. Aroma is very much the piney hop character with a little caramel and malt in the undertones.
Flavor is good bitter hops with a touch of malt sweetness Couldn’t tell this was a 9.6% ABV. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice imperial IPA. fishingnet (737), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a one figer off-white head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops with a good dose of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with a hint of pine hops. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good. uhre (185), Denmark Jul 11, 2008 The colour is coppe with a nice beige head. The aroma is hoppy with a lot of malt too. Flavor is the same hoppy with a lot of malt. There is also hints of pepper in my opinion. Mogwai (152), Askeby, Denmark Jul 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber colour. Aroma is very hoppy, with malts and flowers. Flavor is also very hoppy, with malt and caramel. Very rounded beer with an excellent long lasting after taste. Brilliant.
