The pour was ultra dark brown with a solid tan head which gave way quickly and left spotty bits of lacing. The aroma had roasted malt, chocolate, nuttiness and yes, some honey. Also some earthy, herbal notes. The flavor was sweet, with the chocolate and the honey taking center stage. The roasted, smoky malt shows up a bit as well. The mouthfeel is thin to medium in body and I thought it was slightly overcarbonated.

Jul 18, 2008 The aroma starts with dark fruit, some alcohol, sharp soapy scrubbed metal and finishes with an old dusty aroma. The body is black and holds a quite lasting finger sized mocha head. The fore is thin cocoa, chocolate, roast bitterness, caramelized roasted malt and segues into dusty spent honey. Kinda bleh.

Jul 13, 2008 (USA) Shared by the owner of capone’s, thanks matt. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a sm-tan head. The aroma has a roasted malt, chocolate and some black licorice notes.Taste is smooth and much of the same with the addition of coffee. WOW, This is very good stuff !!!

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle shared by Matt at Capones. Very dark brown in color with a dense foamy head. Smells of raisins, chocolate, and general roastedness. Tastes the same as it smells but much more intense. Big and rich, yet very smooth. I need to buy a bottle of this and use it to make a chocolate cake. Wonderful.

Jul 12, 2008 (bottle reads best before 6-17-08)dark brown body with a red tint.light brown head.smells slightly oxidized but i also pick up some liquorice and chocolate.flavor is cardboard,honey,coffee,chocolate,and liquorice.i bet a fresh sample would be pretty tasty.

Jul 11, 2008 The honey and licorice that are described on the label are pretty confrontational, but if you’re up for the ride, then this is a unique beer that deserves your attention--not to mention the fatct that it comes in an awesome bottle.
