Picked up a can at the corner shop by the place I was staying in Beijing. It was St. Patrick’s day and wanted at least something to drink. This beer basically tastes like someone soaked a tootsie roll in lightly carbonated water. A unique beer, incredibly cheap and a nice change to all the lagers I’ve been drowning in.

pours dark and thin. surprisingly flavorful. It is about %% and comes across as a failed attempt at a sour stout. not even remotely like most stouts. It is sourish and little or no head and lacing So, nice change from the usual watery pseudo-pilsners that pass as beer in middle earth. but not praiseworthy as a stout.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma is an artificial sweetness. Taste is really sweet and a little tart, like syrup and prunes.

A full flavoured, full bodied, old fashioned London style porter. At 50p a can, this beer is a plesent surprise for a Londoner marooned in China. Pleasant, drinkable and full of character. Don’t expect much of a head though.
One word of warning, the untrained pallet probably wont appreciate this little Chinese gem, only buy in bulk if you like a nice porter.

Sheez! Smells like burnt pancakes form feet away after you open the can. A dark brown beer with a rapidly disappearing tan head. Tastes like fake maple syrup made with HFCS poured onto burnt pancakes soaked in milk and sugar. A foul unacceptable beverage not worthy of the title of "beer"!

Available in most supermarkets in China, this beer is a better alternative to the light beers out there. For a price of around $0.60, yes 60 American cents, you can enjoy this beer on your very own!
Aroma - There’s a bit of coffee, chocolate, and nutty flavor, but not a whole lot.
Appearance - With super aggressive pours, there is still no head retention. As per another reviewer, this does look like a cola (minus the carbonation)
Taste - There’s a bit of a fleeting taste that isn’t super complex. A bit of a light sweetness to it with bits of chocolate and coffee.
Palate - This beer goes down pretty smoothly and leaves a bit of a dry finish.
Overall, not a bad alternative when living in China. Sure there are so many better beers out there, but for the price and convenience (available in most supermarkets), I still return to it for a cheap and more tasty drink.

Lots of chocolate with some roasted sharpness, low carbonation and very low foam/head retention. A nice alternative to the industrial piss water lager beers in China. Cheap as chips too!

Cola beer in appearance; brownish black with good clarity and moderate carbonation. Holds a decent, loose and rocky tannish crown for the length. Caramel, diacetyl, cocoa butter and just a little charred wood on the aroma. Similar in taste. Very sweet, packed with caramel and butterscotch with funky notes of seaweed, burnt toast, earthy mushrooms, dust and cellar must. Frothy and foamy in mouthfeel. Long linger, good presence but not altogether the best tasting of beers. My only Stout for my China trip and it was a little ho-hum. Still made a change from all the pale lagers!!
