4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is of roast coffee beans. It is initially spicy at start but it settles down. There is a slice of licorice and chocolate but it gives way to a luxury mouthfeel that is creamy malt. Finishes bitter. Quality brew.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap @ Scratch Bar as part of the Weekend of Darkness event 190714. The bottled version is one of the more expensive beers in Australia and I’m glad I was able to sample it on tap. While this is a very good beer it wasn’t worth the $10 for a $150ml glass.

A bottle purchased from Mane Liquor
A thick syrupy body, Black in colour and a rich velvety mouth feel with every sip. Coffee, vanilla, and rich dark chocolate. Nice alcohol heat and a beer that just wants to be enjoyed slowly and savoured

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at the Sail and Anchor. Pours black with a sinister as fuck head. Aroma is coffee beans, dark cocoa and vegemite. Textbook aroma, not hugely different but nice and rich. Taste is chewy - sticky and bitter dark chocolate, slight buttery hops, espresso and soy. Thick body, nice long bitterness which is the highlight for me. Not a dynamically different stout by any means, but better than 'solid'.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2014 On tap at the Scratch. Darkest black. Aroma is subtle malts - lovely smell. Taste is oily big mouthfeel, super rich and smooth. Big stuff. Formally perfect. Palate is lingering malt flavour. Mild bitterness. Overall, the greatest Australian beer currently going round.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black as the night with a a tan head.
Nose shows liquorice, solventy booze and roasted malt. Too young perhaps?
Similar flavours with roasted malt, coffee, heavy liquorice and lots of booze.
Too highly carbonated.
The overt booze is the main problem holding this back.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
taken from notes - 750 ml bottle shared by Andrejes at sloshfest 2012. Pours massive black with dark brown edges, nice thick legs as well. Aroma is very rich: cocolate, roasted malt, some caramel and liquorice. Rich body and flavours as well. Very decent stout, a tad more sweetness would have been welcome.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from five bar. Pours a thick oily black with a small tan head. Aromas of sweet milk chocolate, roasted coffee with maybe some floral tones. Taste is powdered chocolate, roasted coffee beans with a fantastic lingering bitterness that coats your mouth and doesn't let go! Wonderful hop bitterness leaves an amazing choc coating around the palate. Awesome beer!
