4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is of roast coffee beans. It is initially spicy at start but it settles down. There is a slice of licorice and chocolate but it gives way to a luxury mouthfeel that is creamy malt. Finishes bitter. Quality brew.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught at Tippler’s Tap, Brisbane on 6th September 2015. Black with pale tan head and spot lacing. Coarse pickly aroma with Jalapeño pepper/corned beef/smoke seeming to disagree in the nose. Rough old coffee and sourness in-mouth with soy sauce notes. Aniseed, coffee and sharp black pepper in the finish. Light-bodied for its strength. Failed to live up to expectation at this time, happy to uprate should I have a fresh opportunity.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep black with a thin tan head, I put it down to the pour though. Dark chocolate and raisins on the nose, slight hint of leather amd Christmas fruit cake - not as rich as I’d expected but subtle complexity. So smooth for its ABV - spicey and malt combined, it’s blown me away. Rich in the mouth, velvet and so thick. This is amazing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2015 Alluringly complex aroma with a hint of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and licorice in an inky black pour. Flavour is milky smooth and similarly subtlety complex. Makes an excellent end of session brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap @ Alehouse Project, Melbourne (2015 release). Pours matt black with a small beige head. A Russian Imperial stout with lots of rich dark chocolatey malts, dark fruits, burnt caramel, alcohol and expresso coffee on the nose and tongue. Rich creamy warming full body with a velvet smooth texture and intense flavours. Quite sweet overall. One to sip and savour.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours jet black with a beige head. Coffee, vanilla, earth, chocolate and slight smoke on the nose. Complexity on the palate is amazing with Vanilla, raisin, dark chocolate, coffee, spice and a perfectly integrated bitterness. Flavour lingers for a very long time with plenty of alcohol warmth to carry it through. Very good stout that I can’t wait to have again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught @ GABS Melbourne 2015
Stoked to find this on offer at the Nail Brewing stand!
Sinister black beer, next to no head, a brown ring persists.
Deliciously rich aroma; dark chocolate, treacle, milk chocolate, dark/dried fruits.
Thick, potent, liqueur-like on body. Warming, intense, lots of espresso & dark chocolate, supported by dark vinous fruits & raisins.
Really good, falls a touch short of the best though.
