Nice strong coffee and maple syrup aroma. Pours a deep opaque brown with a few tan bubbles ringing the glass. Delicuous, full bodied roasty stout that adds to the aroma with a throaty bitter malt. Very nice. From the tap at their brewpub.

In short: A viscous amateurish stout that is surprisingly enjoyable.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Black body topped by a very small tan head.
In long: Nose is roasted, some asphalt, a bit inky. Taste is a bit viscous, blackened malts, chocolate ice-cream, soy sauce, tar, vanilla. A bit sticky in the finish. Very full body and pleasant active carbonation, I liked the mouthfeel. Those few sentences where I list flavor elements sure don’t paint the picture of a good beer, yet drinking my glass was an enjoyable experience. This was a fun amateurish beer where the off-flavors work well together. A guilty pleasure. Nail Creek is not the greatest brewpub ever, but it is worth visiting if like me you’ve always wanted to drive a luxury car, in which case all you have to do is drive whatever you have thought rural Upstate New York.
