4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Right up my street - low malt - hop forward - decent fruitiness - almost APA profile - so easy to smash back - most enjoyable of the Nail brews for me - great summer ale.

The most dominant smell is the ale yeast. The head is thick and foamy and the colour is a wonderful yellow, but the aroma, ohh the aroma, what a letdown! The taste is average at best. It tastes like traditional beer, bitter at the start that mellows after a couple of seconds, but there is no malt depth nor hop character. If you are used to sessioning VB or XXXX then this is your first, tiny step into the craft beer world. It is similar to the very safe James Squire 150 Lashes, only weaker.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hazy gold with a large white head. Gentle hay, citrus (orange, grapefruit) and tropical fruit aroma. Light bodied, high carbonation (that’s inconsistent in the 6 pack). Clean hay, mandarin, grapefruit. Dry and pretty bitter finish. Refreshing summery beer.

On tap at Archive Beer Boutique July 2013. Nice easy drinking golden ale with no pretentiousness, just a good old fashioned flavoursome beer.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured as a glass full of off-white foam that produced a hazy pale golden beer. Head retained too well and laced well. Carbonation high. Aroma subtly of malt. Taste subtly of malt with a trace of bitterness. Light body. Dry with a moderate bitterness on the finish. Ordinary at best.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Poured a clear, pale and lively amber with a large, rocky and lacing white head with good retention. Aromas of tangerine, mango and a honey glaze sweetness. A dense biscuity, bready malt heft in the mid-palate that became distinctly more evident after swirling in the sediment, and there’s a good hop bite on the back end with a pithy, marmalade and almost resinous bitterness of protracted length. Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation and a firm palate texture. A golden ale with strong, if at times perhaps slightly muddled flavours.

Does what it says on the tin...or bottle. Nothing amazing here. A lager with a bitter finish. Not my cup of tea.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours amber with a large head.
Nose shows soft papaya and tropical fruit along with some light malt.
Flavours include a little more sweet malt alongside soft fruity and spicy hops followed by a mild bitterness.
Carbonation is pretty aggressive.

Nice waft of hops on the aroma. Also some toast and citrus. A wonderfully enjoyable taste. Not too hoppy but just enough to entertain. Slight sting in the finish but not overdone. Great beer to have in a pack.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Awesome malt aroma, smells so fresh. Pretty smooth head, cloudy straw pour. Very light refreshing taste but way too carbonated. Wicked refreshment but finishes poorly.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Lovely golden pour with minimal lacing. Pretty sharp at first with snappy eucalyptic bitterness and intense carbonation. Settles into a lazy, unrefined yeasty drawl before turning bitter again with a long, but not unpleasant hoppy finish. Great effort, but this doesn’t stand up to the Bridge Roads APA I had recently.
