The nose picks up coffee, toast, burnt sugar, nuts and yeast. Chocolate on the tongue. Gives a reminder of rich Christmas pudding in taste. Beautifully complemented by a port-like touch. Heads stays thick and creamy. Can detect the alcohol but not detrimental. Is better after bottle opened 10 minutes. Classy effort. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330mL bottle. Pour a deep rich dark chocolate brown with an amazing sweet toffee molasses aroma. A rich sweet toffee flavour with some nutty molasses notes. I’d have to say this was one of the best brown ales I’ve ever had.

Malrider69 (92) - Central Coast, AUSTRALIA - JUN 12, 2015
Pours a dark brown colour, almost devoid of head - very under carbonated, almost flat. The aroma is of malt and overpoweringly ethanol. The flavour is of toffee and caramel and is relatively complex, but the overpowering flavour of alcohol ruins it. A disappointing beer

Bottle #446 of 700. Aroma is brown ale on steroids, with plenty of alcohol warmth also evident. Despite the ABV kick, taste is smooth and woody, and a hint of molasses sweetness. Pours out clear dark brown with fast disappearing beige airy head. SmalI hint of dry nutty flavor lingers.

750ml bottle 446 of 700 thanks to Steve for hauling this back from Australia. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is malts nutty notes vanilla and some sweetness. Taste is more of the sweetness malts wood nuttiness.

From bottle, pours dark brown with frothy head. More yeast than hops on the nose with a bit of liquorice. Taste of chocolate with a kick. A very nice, warming brown ale.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2015 Bottle. Looks very cola-like on pouring. Settles a nice blackish with a small ghost-like White head. Aroma is very nutty. Chocolate and iced coffee. Taste is very much chocolate but without being to sweet which I like. Great representation of the style. Dig.

330ML from the first release. Deep brown with a tiny beige head which disappears quickly. Aroma is prune and spice (xmas cakey). Tastes are brandy, nuts, choc, sweet vanilla, cinnamon and light bitterness to finish. Little bit boozey but holds 8 well. Like fruit and nut chocolate. Yum

330mL bottle from Beer Cartel Brewed 7.6.14 Rather attractive looking beer - deep mahogany body, holds a small tight tan head. Nose is subdued, yet rich & complex; roast/burnt nuts and toast, cocoa, molasses, dark grain bread, black plums, prunes & dried fruits. Full rich body without being too boozy or cloying. Low carbonation, syrupy texture. Body reveals layers of roast nuts, meat, toast, cocoa, dark fruits. Finishes moderately bitter, relatively dry. Big tasty brown ale - can’t ask for much more from a traditional brown.

Bottle from cellarbrations super store hami hill. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is boozy mixed with brown sugar, coffee, vanilla and chocolate with slight citrus and toast. Mouthfeel is medium to full body with low carbonation. Taste is robust and bitter with lots of chocolate and roasty notes. There's slight vanilla sweetness that comes through as well. Enjoyed this!

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2015 330 ml bottle. Pour is dark brown with thin head. Nose is sweet malt, raisin, alcohol. Flavour similar, roasty bitter chocolate finish with alcohol warmth. Really excellent. Another good one from Nail.
