Dark malts provide a coffee chocolate sweetness on the front of the palate which is balanced with Goldings hop bitterness on the back. Rolled oats provide a smooth medium body. The Flavour changes down the glass. Is top fermented and bottled conditioned (yeast sediment). 2008 Gold Medal winner, best stout packaged and draught and BEST WA BEER at 2008 Perth Royal Beer Show (PRBS). Also Gold Medal and best stout at 2008 Sydney Royal Beer Competition (SRBC), and 2009 International Beer Challenge gold medal winner.

Personally, it is everthing I could want from a sweet oatmeal stout. The roast malts give this the feel of silk in your mouth and the sweet flavour is delicious. The addition of the Goldings hop however, prevents either of the two dominant flavours from being overwhelming at all. It lends the beer the slightest of bites after the velvety roast malts, caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours have all done their work. Easily my favourite WA beer at present and at slightly above chilled temperature on a cold day/night, it wants for nothing.

Head doesnt hang around. Upfront sweetness quickly controlled by well balanced bitterness and burnt coffee finish that lingers. Great oatmeal stout, one of the best i have had ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2008 A freind on east coast described it nicely= What a great beer - smooth creamy texture, just sweet enough to balance the roast - but not roasted to effect the drinkability - not burnt or tar like and clean finish - comments on improvement - maybe look at hop blend to help clean up a slight harsh after bitterness - but minor points in a beer worthy of the gold medal.

Great stout. WA breweries have some great stouts and porters. Nitrogenated, Chocolate, caramel and coffee notes. Havent had it for a long time. Making me thirsty.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Perfect beer for this wet and rainy Friday afternoon. Pours midnight black, thick like oil. Deep crackling brown crest of foam. Aromas of bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Smooth and very drinkable with a long finish. Very good beer.

Dark brown, nice head. Aroma hints at a rich, fudgey balanced brew. Full body, creamy and delicious. Sweet accent, just enough hop. Really nice stout.

Good one - very easy drinking - medium bodied - classic flavour - a bit short on aftertaste (cola-like?) so kinda two dimensional but... I like it.

Don’t know why but wasn’t expecting to much from this and was pleasantly surprised. The booziness shines through the lovely smooth chocaletiness. Possibly slightly too sweet.
