3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Auburn pour, still looking with absolutely no head or lace. The nose has notes of banana, caramel, touch of earthy wood and vanilla notes. Rather sweet smelling throughout. The flavor is similar - banana, caramel, lighter dark fruit notes, vanilla. Sweet residual sugars very present and sweetness lingers on the palate. Minimal carbonation, smooth almost lifeless body. Just a bit odd to me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a beautiful dark mahogany with bright ruby highlights, really a pretty color, or colors, to the beer. Very loose bubbles on top that fade rather quickly. Oak, sherry, dates, and dark molasses on the nose--quite a dense and sweet combination. Watery body, not much carb. Oaky bite, dark fruits, and some sherry on the mid palate. Tannic finish.
