Brewed with 8% flaked maize, hopped with Willamette and lagered for 5 weeks. NC 17 is one big, big beer!

Growler thanks to beastie! Nose is moderate adjunct, corn. Fairly clear gol with a small white head. Taste is initially very sweet, sugary, almost a lactose or creamy sugar. Nose shows some light butter as it warms. Moderate fruitiness in the flavor. Lacks any hot or fusel alcohol. Lacks any candy apple yeast esters too. Actually not bad.

Drinking high class malt liquor out of a tulip at naked city. Clear gold, no head. Smooth and sweetish, corn and alcohol. I don’t really get the appeal to this stuff, but still plenty fun to drink.

2 malt likka in one evening, I feel like I am in college. Draft at Naked City, they don’t allow smaller pours of this so I am drinking this in a Tulip glass. Ironic, sardonic, weird, or something all in one. Golden and slick looking, clear. This batch is 11.5 while older batches have been below 9 abv. Aroma does give off that corny, his octane charactet... Thank god!!!!!! I was starting to worry that craft malt likka was too refined. Fusel alcohol mixes withbsweet, wet white bread. Low hop. Man, I wish malt likka tasted this good in college but also cost like $2 for a double deuce as opposed to $7 for 12oz when I am in my 30s.

Draft at the brewpub in Seattle. Pours a hazy golden orange color with a one finger white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Sweet, grainy aroma with lots of corn and a delicate floral hop presence.  There’s also a light fruit presence with some apple and apricot.  Has characteristics of a malt liquor but the hop and light fruit notes improve the aroma.  Surprisingly hop forward with some sweet citrus, lighter fruit notes and some nice dry bitterness that’s followed by a pale malt backbone.   Sweet grainy notes are subtle and  surprisingly only evident toward the finish.  Sweet corn/adjunct notes are kept in check.  Dry finish.

Pours orange with little head. Smell is sweet and grainy. Taste is sweet, straw and alcohol. Didn’t want to finish it. I guess it is good for the style?

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2011 Draft @ naked city; light gold and clear with thin white head and lacing as it fades; light lemon, white sugar and pale malt; smooth and sweet aromas; dry malt, stale lemons and crisp, sugary finish; not much here in terms of a malt liquor IMO; crisp malt, dried lemon peels; kind of bland overall with sticky malt; hard to believe this is 8.8%; smooth, slightly sweet

Nose of toasted malts, some residual fruitiness, sugars, light corn, a touch of hops. Pours darker golden, thin head, not much lace, some chill haze. The flavor is toasty and sweet with hints of corn, some nice fruity notes, residual sweetness throughout, somewhat like lagered ale yeast. Nice and smooth, balanced, drinkable. I had two. Good stuff.
