Dark color, almost black, with creamy head. Nice aroma, intense, with dominating coffee. Smooth mouthfeel, rather dry, with some roasted malt and chocolate flavor, sweeter in the final, with moderate bitterness.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Chocolate, malt and coffee in the nose. Light to medium body with a roasty malt character with notes of malt and espresso. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pint @ Naked City. Serviceable porter, but not nearly as good as the American Brown my wife had. Hot damn that was one fine brew. All I remember about this one was how less porter-y it was than the brown.

Tap @ brewpub. Dark brown appearance with a creamy, dark brown nose. Roasty, slight charred, chocolate, light espresso nose. A little watery. Char, roasty, chocolate flavor. Reminds me of a watery version of a Scandinavian porter.

riversideAK (5726) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 16, 2011
Lightly roasted malts on the nose, hints of chocolate, light earthy notes, and a touch of hops. Pours dark brown, thin tannish head. The flavor is lightly roasty, notes of chocolate, light underlying sweetness, and a moderately dry earthy finish. Hints of bitterness show up but are light. A balanced solid house porter.
