duff (5404), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 10, 2008 Cask. Yikes pretty artificial in flavour, very sweet, cordial sort of flavours coming through. Artificial plum flavour. Mouth feel is flat and flabby, and the sweetness never gos away. Not good. harrisoni (5109), Ashford, Kent, England Apr 1, 2008 Cask handpull at Penderel’s Oak, ’Sporks. Fruity plum aroma, sweeter than I had anticipated in mouth, a bit like my mother’s plum crumble that I had when I was a child on a Sunday. But then it gets worse, bit chalky in flaovur, too sweet. In fact it’s terrible. Tastes of artificial fruit. I didn’t finish the half pint. Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England Apr 16, 2008 A Mes rate: cask at the Counting Hoose McSporks in Glasgow. Comically bad beer with plums in it. Honestly, that’s all I have to say. imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Mar 30, 2008 Cask at a Wetherspoons. Hope I am putting this in the correct place. Reddish amber with no head. It certainly smells strongly of plums, sweet and sticky, just before they rot. The beer (??) carries on being very sweet, cloyingly so, now I enjoy a fruity plum taste in beer but this is crazy, this is plum pudding, plum duff and any other plum product all rolled into one. I really tried to like it, but I gave the remainder away. Not for me. maeib (3917), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Mar 30, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Lloyds No 1 Northampton. This is definitely a love it/hate it beer. I’m a lover (or so I’ve been told). Amber with a whitish head and lacing, and quite definitely the plummiest aroma a beer could possibly have and certainly want. You have to like plums to like this. The smell grabs you from afar. The taste is no less plummy. Sweet juicy fleshy plums. You can almost taste the nutmeg that you might add to this if making a crumble. Drink some more and you start to think actually it’s too sweet, but it’s still bloody tasty and you wonder why the humble plum is not in more beers. No one in their right mind would session on this, but for a half or a pint it’s got to be done.
