COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A lighter golden version of the Nantahala Pale Ale with a crisp dry flavor and a touch of bitterness. The unique hop varieties create a tropical citrus flavor and aroma that balances with the soft malt profile.

Draft at the brewery. 300th American Pale rating. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Good head retention. Mild herbal hop aroma. The taste is citrus hops and pale malts. Medium bodied, fairly delicate, straightforward, well balanced. Nice beer.

On tap at Pizzeria Toro, Durham. Nicely earthy pour, cloudy and vigorous, brimming with life. Nice blend of bitter notes and tropical fruit in the nose, and it comes across as intense for an APA. Turns out that’s certainly the case in this well balanced, elegant, but fuckin flavorful brew.

Draft in a flight at the brewery. Good level of hops to this one without overpowering the drink. Easy drink that makes life grand.

Originally reviewed: 4/8/11. Another City Beverage (W-S) Freakin’ Firkin Friday has come and gone, and this new offering from Nantahala was offered this time around. Came out a deep honey-gold with a thick white head on top. Great retention, lots of sticky lace. The nose was faintly spicy at first then finished with notes of orange, lemon, and fresh flowers. This was an ultra creamy offering, which was to be expected given the cask. This is definitely a toned-down version of their PA, as the flavors were somewhat muted and tame. Mild citrus, faint bittering hops, light graininess on the back end. All-in-all, a good APA that I was pleased to get the chance to try, especially from a cask!

tap at nick and nates sylva 7/11/11. very clear and very pale yellow with a white creamy head and some clingy lacing. the aroma is peppery....noble hops, sweaty grain, straw, sand, light pine and some gf. same with the flavor... crisp and clean with a noble AT. quite sessionable. 6/3/6/4/15

Draft at the taproom. Pours hazy orange-yellow with small off-white head. The aroma is rich and fruity with hops, mostly mango, some pineapple and peach, miscellaneous other citrus, bit of strawberry and kiwi--very juicy altogether. The flavor is soft malt and mellow fruity hops, though nowhere near as fruity as in the nose. Bitterness is very subdued. Some herbal hop notes. There is a touch of soapiness, but a clean finish.

Draft at tap room. This is a very similar beer to the pale ale except it’s filtered so it’s a little lighter shade of orange and a bit clearer. It has a nice woody vibe on the nose and a nice injection of hop flavor on the finish.

Hazed straw gold pour with white watery head. Sweet caramel malt and resiny hop aroma. Sweet maltiness with a nice citrus bitter finish. Light/medium bodied with a decent carbonation. Pretty nice beer.

On tap at the brewery. Very light yellow color with a white head. Smell has an overload of hops, pine, and grapefruit. Smells very similar to an IPA. Taste is crisp and refreshing with a nice hop kick. Good beer, fairly unique too..
