Growler tap from the brewery courtesy of John and Lauren. Copper pour with thin off white. Aroma is sweet bready caramel malt. Taste follows suit with pine hops and light spice. Thin to medium texture. Ambers aren’t my fav, but this was nice.

Multiples on tap in Bryson City. Pours out a dark red color with a tan head on it. Smell is plentiful of malts and a little bit of hops. Easy drinking, rich and slightly complex. Not bad really. I enjoyed it.

Draft in a flight at the brewery. Interesting this is classified as a California Common, as it really does taste a lot like an amber. Malty, pours amber, but fairly unremarkable.

Draft at the taproom. Pours a rusty orange with fluffy beige head. The aroma is orange, peach, nectarine, a light malty sweetness, and an iced tea note. Flavor is smooth caramel with some subtle fruity notes. Nice herbal and floral hops. There’s a mellow yeasty note in the finish, otherwise pretty clean. Slight lingering hop note.

Draft at Taproom. Pours orange with a thin white head. Not a ton on the nose. Mouthfeel is a bit creamy. Has a slight hop presence on the finish. Not my favorite style.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. An orange beer with a nice solid head. Nicely hoppy over a smooth malty base and has a nice crack to the tongue. Something different in the crowded field, and a good one. (#4322, 10/6/2011)
