3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sampled in 2011 from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark fruit, dark chocolate, powdery, dusty, earthy bitterness, nutty with a hint of smoke, only real ding is it was thin for the style.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
"A little smoke, chocolate, coffee and fruit greet the nose. Similar in taste with the bitterness and the smoke coming out a little more. Not bad, but not what I have grown accustomed to within the style. OK for a porter, but foran imperial, falls a tad short."

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Total Wine Boca Raton. Pours Black with very little head. Doesnít leave much lacing in the glass. Canít say Iím getting much on the nose. A little syrupy sweet on the nose. Not getting a lot of interesting roasted flavor. Hides the alcohol well. Itís a miss for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nose of sweet malts, and chocolate, with notes vanilla. Pours a solid black with a short lived tan head and minimal lacing. The pallet provides a taste of milk chocolate, toasted malts, and caramel. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Overall, a excellent imperial porter. Rich and smooth. Well done Napa Smith.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours near black with little head. Scent is pretty nice, bit of chocolate. Was expecting smokiness from the name, this was not the case. Instead what you have is a very smooth taste of chocolate and dark fruit. Tasty stuff.
