DATE TASTED: August 22, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Victory Hop Devil nonick... OCCASION: last night of camp thoughts--a good eight weeks...APPEARANCE: handsome reddish-brown body supports a thick off-white head that laces reasonably well; subtle bubbles... AROMA: sweet caramel and cinnamon; hops are light and aromatic--suggestive of soft pine; malts lend a Scottish allure...PALATE: like a brown ale, beginning with a solid malty backbone; hops tickle the teeth, but the malt holds the trump in the profile...TASTE: significant warming aftertaste; medium-bodied, almost an IPA; the alcohol is palpable... OVERALL: an intriguing purchase that may not live up to its bomber status; rounded enough to be a thought on St. Patty’s day, but not powerful or substantial enough to demand attention on a non-holiday night; not much of a summer beer either; still, not without its merits or usefulness...

12oz bottle poured to pint glass. Off white head one finger thick, fades quickly, moderate lacing. Smells of overripe citrus and sweet bread. Fruity sweet flavor with nice roasted malts follow through. Nice linger of hops bitterness and alcohol warmth on the back end.

Malts are sweet caramel and light toast up front, and there is some sweet orange and citrus rinds behind. Flavor has is little more sweet malts and orange, and just a touch of floral hops are added. It seems as though this is going to turn too sweet, though it keeps itself pretty well balanced.

I don’t get the lack of love on the ratings I see here. Malty, nutty aroma with some citrus hops. Flavor starts sweet and fruity, with caramel, toffee, and citrus. Hoppy, bitter finish with citrus, pine, and some alcohol. Kind of a cross between an amber ale and an IPA, and it works

"An imperial amber in a bomber. fuller (but not really better) feel from the jacked up abv. bitter citric hops and sweet malt seem a bit confused and muddled. Not sure where this brewer is going. When they were new, the beers were too slick. Now they seem unfocused, muddled, directionless. Eh. Not worth a bomber."

2011 backlog. 12oz bottle. Pours hazy amber with a one finger beige head. The nose is caramel and fruity citrus. The taste is toffee, molasses, overripe citrus and some faint resin in the finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good Red. 3.4

Cloudy caramel in color... Aroma of toffee, citrus, sweet caramel... Flavor is burnt toffee, apple, candy, sweet caramel, light hop notes on finish... Pretty sweet, but enjoyable... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rated on 6-07-2011 (Bottle) This beer has a small fizzy ivory head with a short retention, transparent amber body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, citrus, pine hops, and apples. The taste is semi-crisp, lightly bitter, citrus, pine hops, and a hint of apples. The mouthfeel is smooth and this is a medium bodied beer. I did not get any "big hoppy flavor" as the description says. It is somewhat crisp and refreshing on a hot summer day.

Bärnstensfärgad med litet ljust skum. Doftar både humle och malt och i smaken finns det humle och lite karamell malt! Ok öl!

12oz bottle, pours a robust amber with tall head. Sweet malt in the aroma. Caramel malt, bread, citrus hops, fairly sweet all around. Kind of a unique taste for a red.
