2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 Bottle from 99 and tap at 1702. Clear gold pour with a short, off-white head leaving moderate lace. Nose is lightly roast and sweet with some pine hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a mouth feel slightly heavier than expected. Pine, tea, walnuts and some caramel. Hop profile was disappointing and balance was not very IPA-like, especially considering that this is a West Coast IPA. Finish is longish and with a sweet balance and very little bitterness or umami. Not a fan.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
ARoma of slightly perfumy hops with citrus and deep malt. Taste is really heavy malts, sweet caramels and some nutty persona in the back. A little too much on the aromatic hops and malty character.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a creamy medium head. Light fruity aroma with hints of citrus and mild pine / resin. Taste is well balanced with a grassy bitterness. Quite nice actually! Moderate lasting bitterness. Medium bodied and creamy texture. Avg co2 levels.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml brown bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is cloudy dark orange with a medium sized frothy beige head, that reduced quickly leaving a little lacing on the glass. Aroma of orange peels, mango and a hint of pine. Flavours of orange peels, mango, grapefruit, resin and caramel. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, smooth texture and average carbonation. Napa Smith Organic IPA is quite full-bodied for the style, notable bitterness backed by robust maltiness.

An IPA on the average. Nice but light aroma, quite bitter in taste. A good choice if you dont want to be amazed but just have a beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought from room temp shelf, questionable date. color is a dark orange, amber. Aroma is a malty caramel, low to no hops, possibly fruit, bready yeast. Possibly b vitamins/ old hops. Taste is malty with caramel, toffee, light hops generic/fruit. A malty ipa, dated, but not a bad ipa, tastey and I enjoyed it still. Average to maybe above average. Would love to try this fresh though.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2015 Piney-citrus nose with a bit more malt than most pale ales. Sweetish, slightly cloying, with a bitter overlay, but no real noble hop flavor. Finish is bitter, but not harsh. Pleasant pale ale, but doesn’t grab me.
