I’m not really an IPA person, even less so a Double IPA person. But one thing this beer does that many of it’s kind don’t do is match malt body and flavor with outrageous hop flavor and bitterness, along with a fairly complex hop aroma. Despite the substantial ABV, the beer still has plenty of residual sugars to keep the high bitterness in check. Finishes clean. Very intense -- I can’t drink more than one bottle in one sitting! A fairly complex 2xIPA.

Super hazy golden and honey coloured body with a muddied light brown glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, passionfruit, earth, caramel, caster sugar, icing sugar and a bunch of alcohol. Full-bodied; Super dense hop flavours up front with a ridiculously large alcohol bite and some honey coupled with perfume. Aftertaste shows quite a bit of piney and herbal hops, but even more alcohol and malt body with the honey and sweetness definitely there as well. Overall, a very strongly hopped beer, but also with a lot of alcohol as well, a lot of bitterness and a rich sweetness as well. Interesting and not one of my favourite Imperial IPAs, but not a bad one in all honesty. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 18-July-2014 for US$6,50 sampled at home in Washington on 05-September-2014.

APPEARANCE - Opaque reddish brown. No head whatsoever, but a little lacing SMELL/AROMA/SCENT - Piney and very sweet, fruity, despite absence of head. TASTE - A tasty ale. Well-balanced, hoppy, piney, and very sweet. ABV pretty well-hidden. MOUTHFEEL/PALATE - Nearly no carbonation, viscous and syrupy. OVERALL - I really prefer Imperials with some carbonation. Without it, it doesn’t seem like you are drinking beer at all. However, this is a tasty ale.

I call this brew "hop juice", obviously it is very noticeable. It pours a very clear and reddish líquido with a persistant head retention and a very balanced maltiness-hopness. The aroma is very much like passion fruit and there is a bready/biscuity taste. The brew is superclear.

Sample from Hoppy Loft. THX to Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: alcohol, sweet, lytchee. TASTE: sweet, alcohol. Not good enough for it’s ABV in my opinion.
