3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, wheat, bread, orange, hops, citrus and spices.
Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with a slight/medium off-white/beige head.
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, wheat and orange; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, hops, citrus and spices.
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. A decent IPA with Saison yeast, or a good Saison with a lot of fruit; this is for you to decide. A good mix of styles nonetheless and extremely pleasant overall.

Dark orange coloured body, mostly clear, with a tall and thick off-white head on top, good retention.
Fruity aromas, lots of citrus too, grass, straw, light yeast, pine.
Nice taste with grapes, white wine notes, fresh grass, light straw, citrus, some orange.
Medium body, good carbonation, nicely dry on the palate.

From 32GP. In Teku glass. At dinner, with sausages + cheese sandwich. Brutal nose that I could be smelling all night, with soft notes to honey and orange and a taste that follows it very closely. Another masterpiece of these cracks of Naparbier

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
9th July 2016: on-tap in the Napar Brewpub with the RBESG guys. Deep, hazy orange pour, off-white top. Another citrus flavoured brew, this one had some sourness and a spicy overlay: no farmyard used in this Saison, or at least I could not detect one.

Thuis. Orange / Lemon staat er op t flesje, en die proef je ook echt. Verder een droge frisse saison met kenmerkende saison gistsmaak. Lekker! Backlog from 2015/06/30.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Spanish saison (never thought a thing like this could actually exist a few years ago) with vultures on the label, promising aromas of orange and lemon. Thinnish, off-white, milky head with dense edge but quickly breaking in the middle; colour is an autumn sunset, beautifully warm pale orange, lightly hazy with a ’fog’ of yeast suspended in it. Aroma of Grand Marnier, yoghurt, freshly baked cake or biscuit especially when warming up, some FFF (freshly fermented farmland), some blood orange and pink grapefruit mixed in but not strongly so, limoncello, strong overripe mango, buttermilk, old toast, sundried tomato, hints of shallot, bourbon, overripe apricot, wet leaves, canned pineapple. Sweet and sour onset, fruity with accents of passion fruit, mango, peach, sweet grapes, orange flesh, soft carbo, smooth and supple but notably light body with a slightly resinous caramelly maltiness to it, honeyish even, a little bit nutty as well but all rather subdued, while a marmelade- and limoncello-like subtle sweetness overlies it all and extends into the finish, where it is accompanied by herbal and softly leafy hop bitterness and a dash of warming, but well-hidden alcohol. Not unpleasant, but a tad too sweet for the style. Almost every craft brewer in the world seems to attempt saison nowadays, a challenging phenomenon considering there is no real ’standard’ for the style even in Belgium; Dupont is often quoted though, and if their beers are to be considered a guideline for the style, then they should be more hoppy, more earthy and a lot more dry than this one. Not a great success in terms of ’truth to style’ but a pleasant and well-crafted ’orange beer’ with pleasant exotic accents nonetheless.
