Rich, a little bit muddled though, but that is my impression on most new world style barleywines.

taste is hoppy, sweet, BW-ish , but not over the top .

Cloudy rusty to chestnut brown beer, small irregular off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, raisins, dried fruits, caramel, vanilla, alcohol, bit dusty. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of sugar, caramel, dried fruits, sweet, bitter hop, honey. Aftertaste: some chocolate, caramel, very sugary but also pretty bitter, dry, some alcohol.

Ambrée, col beige.
Arôme est légèrement houblonné avec un bouquet restant assez bien citronné, surtout pour un barley wine. Le côté malté, caramel reste assez discret et procure juste une pointe de grains.
Palais est malté, caramel léger avec une belle rondeur en fin de bouche. Le houblon ici prend un peu la part belle de l’expérience et donne une dimension plus fleurie et fruitée pour un barley. Cela devient un peu la marque de fabrique des nombreuses bières espagnoles et françaises qui sont lourdes en houblons. Ici, reste à voir si le houblon va s’atténuer avec le temps. Fin de bouche reste assez douce, pointe d’épices et une petite note sucrée.

Bottle @ Kraddel's TdG 2013 tasting. Deep hazy light brown body, tiny off-white head. Heavy caramel tones, toffee, hints of biscuits and alcohol. Taste is bitter grass, caramel, toffee, citric peel and hints of grass. Medium body and carbonation. A bit bitter but OK.

Courtesey of Sebletitje. 75 cl. bottle sampled. Cork is impossible to pull out. Light fox amber, head is quickly gone. Sweet toffee nose, almost medicinal touch to it, plaster, light band aid, thick malts, bitter pine,… Very bitter pine, light band aid, plaster, very bitter malt in taste, hugely bitter mandarin peel, bit too much, thick goo, very bitter, bit thick,…Interesting, not too bad.

Barley wine is a style that few dare, and here is a good example of what a Barley wine is, carbonic almost nonexistent, vanilla, strong but not aggressive, perfect for the end of dinner with a good dessert.

Soberbia introducción a las "barley wine". El sabor dulzón predomina, pero también hay complejidad detrás. El alcohol apenas se nota, pero cómo te deja "tumbao". Sospecho que también podría ser una cerveza con amplio éxito entre el público.
