4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Vaiz (1847) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - SEP 21, 2010
While sitting in a field in France, looking at what’s soon going to be a beautiful sunset, I opened one of these. Had it in my cellar for half a year or so. Thick deep orange pour. Loads of hop in the aroma that hits the air. Floral hops and with resin and some grapefruit. But there is something quite sweet as well, some fruity berries or more like candy sugar. Very promising altogether. A thick blanket of yellowish creamy foam rests on top of the goods. First impression is again loads of hops, but quite a thick body as well especially given it is "only" 8,5% abv. Somewhat syrupy texture due to some sugars present as well. Very nice brew.

Draught at the Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Wonderful hazy mahogny colour with a creamy off-white head. Superb mellow toffeish and fruity malt aroma, with notes of plums, along with herbal hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Well balance with a soft lingering bitterness.

Draught. Red hazy with white head. Fruity ale, rubber? A heavy ale may you call it. A bit sweet, from the alcohol? Hops and a good body.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2010 Sample @ Stockolm Beer Festival 2008. Nice light dark appearance. Tastes sweet like rasins with a dry finish. Later-> Tap @ Man in the moon. Reminds me of the finnish mead sima with its fruity, yeast and light boozy charcter,

Bottle@Home. Beautiful aroma of malts and hops and light fruity. Amber colour, yellowish head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, fruity, hoppy finish. Medium body, sticky, dryish finish. Straightforward yet flavourful and complex, balanced, easy going. A pure beer is what comes to mind. Highly drinkable barley wine.

Amber with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Rich aroma of molasses, figs and hops. Dry and rich malty flavour with a little molasses, and a touch of alcohol. If you wanna brew a strong, sweet and malty beer, this is the ideal...
