4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
courtesy of Per - dark brown colour and a giant foamy pale beige head; solid smokey nose (close to an Islay whisky) with aroma of honey, wood and pine needles; tart and sweet with a robust malt body; the finish is rather dry with long notes of smoke and caramel - a great beer

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells like a forest fire, and the smokiness dominates the beer. Some sourness. A very interesting beer, but certainly not for novices!

Bottle at RBESG 2007. Smokey, peaty. Ruby colour with lasting beige head. I love that. Rubber on finish too. Normally not a combination of flavours I like, but this was good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, RBESG Grand Tasting 07. Dark copper, thin white head. Peaty smoke, malty deep and complex, whisky tones. Mouth is charcoaly, woody, maybe a little overpowering, but excellent. Palate is burnt, slightly sweet.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A Mes rate:
Bottle at RBESG. Loved it. Very rare I don’t rave over a smoked beer and this was no exception. Dark translucent brown with a thin tan head. Sweet and peaty aroma with sandalwood and obvious smoke. Flavour is similar. Straight forward but very good peaty whiskey and camp fire smokiness. Dry finish. A little on the harsh side but I just love smoked beers.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle. Dark, dark red – almost black body with a nice beige head. Aroma is quite strong smoked. I find elements of smoked bacon and grilled mackerel in aroma. Very pleasant, you may enjoy the flavor alone for a bit before sipping the beer. Flavor is of course smoked malt, and very well balanced indeed between malt and bitterness. It’s also rather light in a way, but more balanced then e.g. Aecht Schlenkerla, which I find a bit thin. A real campfire beer to relax with.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Oliver Twist little improvised festival for the Denmark-Sweden Football matchup of June 2nd. Hazy garnet body wears a thin white cover that resumes to a ring. Profound leather nose is complemented by mild tart, soily and very salty pomegranate and pineapple. Not very sweet at all that beer. Pear also emerges from the beefy malts bearing a mild acidity. A small leafiness tries to integrate the taste profile, but the malts are too much. Rather strong bodied, slow-going medium carbonation. A very, very smokey example, but without the smoothness and versatility of others.
