Bottle at RBESG 2007. Smokey, peaty. Ruby colour with lasting beige head. I love that. Rubber on finish too. Normally not a combination of flavours I like, but this was good.

Bottle, RBESG Grand Tasting 07. Dark copper, thin white head. Peaty smoke, malty deep and complex, whisky tones. Mouth is charcoaly, woody, maybe a little overpowering, but excellent. Palate is burnt, slightly sweet.

A Mes rate: Bottle at RBESG. Loved it. Very rare I don’t rave over a smoked beer and this was no exception. Dark translucent brown with a thin tan head. Sweet and peaty aroma with sandalwood and obvious smoke. Flavour is similar. Straight forward but very good peaty whiskey and camp fire smokiness. Dry finish. A little on the harsh side but I just love smoked beers.

500 ml bottle. Dark, dark red – almost black body with a nice beige head. Aroma is quite strong smoked. I find elements of smoked bacon and grilled mackerel in aroma. Very pleasant, you may enjoy the flavor alone for a bit before sipping the beer. Flavor is of course smoked malt, and very well balanced indeed between malt and bitterness. It’s also rather light in a way, but more balanced then e.g. Aecht Schlenkerla, which I find a bit thin. A real campfire beer to relax with.

Rastacouere (6159) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 3, 2007
Bottle at Oliver Twist little improvised festival for the Denmark-Sweden Football matchup of June 2nd. Hazy garnet body wears a thin white cover that resumes to a ring. Profound leather nose is complemented by mild tart, soily and very salty pomegranate and pineapple. Not very sweet at all that beer. Pear also emerges from the beefy malts bearing a mild acidity. A small leafiness tries to integrate the taste profile, but the malts are too much. Rather strong bodied, slow-going medium carbonation. A very, very smokey example, but without the smoothness and versatility of others.

KSBF 2006 after-party brought by Kramer. Pours a clear amber with a thin diminishing off white head. Aroma is meaty and smokey- slmost like a smoked pigs ear thing for dogs- some woody campfire harsh burning hints as well, along with light phenols as it warms. Some more sharp smokey and plasticy phenols in the flavor, light burning rubber, some sulfur, more smoked meats- bacon and hickory smoke. Slick and sweet mouthfeel- good body and a pretty good finish. Nice smoked.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2008 Bottle, 6.3%. Salami-like smoke aroma, like good spegepølse. Quite dark brown colour, unstable head. The flavour is nicely smoky, quite like whisky. A little salty. Good mouthfeel and a very good smokiness. 8 4 8 4 18

EBF08. Very smoky aroma, salami and wood. VERY smoked flavour, like eating leftovers from last night’s bonfire. Quite nice. Clear amber colour. 7 3 7 3 17

KSBF after fest party, bottle supplied by kramer17801, thanks Jason! Small tan head that fades quickly leaving small spotty laceing behind. Clear, amber/copper hued brew. Smokey nose, ashes, sorta dusty. Body is med/light, lightly oily. Smokey, roasty flavors, notes of bandaid, light medicinal notes as well as some burnt malts. A touch tangy. Dry, smokey finish. Thanks again Jason!

Bottle at RBESG 2006. Delightfully smoky. If you’re looking for a shot of bacon whiskey, this should serve as a suitable approximation.
