Has a light malt bitterness. 140908 austone (580), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 20, 2008 Draught at EBF. Almost black, small disappearing brown head. Salty, sourish aroma, little ammonium and liquorice. Flavor is salty liquorice, wood, burned malts and little alcohol. Mildly vinous. Medium bodied, average palate. Good salty porter. Rosted malt aroma with notes of licorice, coffee, black chocolate, and dark fruit. Taste of roasted malt, licorice, dark fruit, raisins, coffee, and dark chocolate, blueberries and a hint of strawberry. Roasty dark chocolate aroma that is sweet and fruity. Opaque black-brown with an off-white ring. Plenty of chocolate malt in the flavour that is nutty, creamy, and velvety. A nice helping of floral hops in the background. Sweet, but ending with a pleasant dark malt bitterness. Warming, slightly bitter finish, moderate carbonation. faroeviking (4589), Faroese Autonomous Beer Republic, Denmark Oct 9, 2008 Druaght. Pitch black colour. Very pleasanr roasty chocolate dark fruity aroma. Flavour of roasted malt with liquor and some liquorice along with dark fruits, bitter hops and chocolate. Dry roasty long lasting finish. Great brew indeed.
