Bottle at Akkurat, December 28, 2010.
Black, wonderfully thick liquid with a tan and creamy head. Aroma of coffee, oak, roasted malt, also some cognac somewhere in the background. The taste was about the same with some warming alcohol. Very nice mouth feel and a great body on this wonderful beer. Well done again Närke Kulturbryggeri!

Clear oakish nose with hints of vanilla.
Taste is amazing and consists of strong roasted coffee. A bit sweet but wonderfully thick liquid. Very well balanced.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black with a lasting and creamy tan head. Big roasted aroma with fruit, licorice and chocolate, and lots of wine character. Intense and complex dark flavour with chocolate, and with vineous, warming alcohol. Compared to my perfect rating of the regular (bourbon aged) Kaggen, this is lower, but mostly because it was too barrel/cognac dominated and quite fresh (2009, tasted in October 2010) and a bit rough around the edges.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
More alcohol in the nose and taste, lighter mouthfeel and a bit sweeter than the regular version: liked that one way better.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Pours a pitch black beer with a firm chocolate head. The aroma is roasted, sweetness, coffee and some licorice. The flavor is roasted, wood, sweetness, some licorice and notes of smoke. The palate is roasted with sweetness and smooth. Overall a beer close to perfect. Nice balance, good complexity and a nice experience.

25th Spetember 2010. Borefts Beer Festival II.
Opaque black beer, light tan head. Crisper palate than the other Kaggens. Lovely sweet dark malts. Minerally. Sublte cognac in the background. A superb beer but I probably should not have drunk it after the regular Kaggen. It doesn’t have that same out of body experience!!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 9, 2010 Draft @ BBF. Aroma is alcoholic cognac mixed with strormaktsporter, doesn’t seem to really blend together. Flavour blends together a lot better. Not a fan of cognac but this is some good stuff, although I like the regular kaggen better.
