4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
25th Spetember 2010. Borefts Beer Festival II.
Opaque black beer, light tan head. Crisper palate than the other Kaggens. Lovely sweet dark malts. Minerally. Sublte cognac in the background. A superb beer but I probably should not have drunk it after the regular Kaggen. It doesn’t have that same out of body experience!!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 9, 2010 Draft @ BBF. Aroma is alcoholic cognac mixed with strormaktsporter, doesn’t seem to really blend together. Flavour blends together a lot better. Not a fan of cognac but this is some good stuff, although I like the regular kaggen better.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught @ Borefts Bier Festival 2010, Brouwerij de Molen, Overtocht 43, Bodegraven, Netherlands.
Clear dark brown black color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate, strong coffee, wood - oak, alcohol - cognac. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, peat - smoke notes. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finsh feel is light alcoholic. Prefered the normal Kaggen Stormaktsporter.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 1, 2012 My favorite Närke Kaggen so far. Maple syrup in the aroma. Hints of licorice, honey and cognac in the aroma and flavor. The oak and cognac are especially clearly noticeable in the flavor. Can’t wait for an Islay version.
2010 sample from tap @ Borefts 2012. Roast, coffee, oak, maple syrup and cognac in the aroma. Sweet, amazingly complex tart flavor. Coffee, brandy, dried red fruit. Oak. Some alcohol. Almost as divine as the samples I had at Borefts 2010.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Compared to the Swedish oak edition, this has more spice in it but it conflicts somewhat with the gentle taste of the beer. The aroma is also somewhat less profound.
