Vilken lycka. Äntligen fick jag smaka denna välbalaserade portern där sötma, beska och syrlighet framkommer i perfekt symbios. Smak och doft av vanilj, kaffe, choklad, honung. En aning syrlig och vinös. Oljig och krämig med kraftig eftersmak av choklad.

On draft @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Pitch black body with a small brown head. Strong aroma from black malt, chocolate and express coffee with obvious cognac aroma. Flavor is sweet, relatively mild roasted, chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, warming alcohol and very well integrated cognac flavor. Full body and long aftertaste. Classic material.

Bottle generously shared by nbutler11 @ his own bachelor party! Pour nearly as ebony as the bottle itself. A razor-thin latte film topped the squid-ink colored brew. Aroma of cocoa, smoke, brownie batter, oak, bourbon, and vanilla. Flavor shows Godiva chocolate, brown sugar, molasses, ash, and a hint of alcohol. Slick and decadent.

Thanks to nbutler! Pours a near black with no real head. Aroma of cocoa, marshmallow and berry. Taste is sweet, smoke, and some alcohol burn. Medium bodied and slick. Really good although I slightly preferred the Kaggen. Many thanks Nick!

From tap @Haand ØlFestival 2012. Black. Firm mocha head. Big sweet chocolatey malt aroma. Mild and well integrated cognac tones. Warm in the mouth, and very smooth. Rounded and complex and very flavorfull. Mild roasty, faint ashy, and actually more of a bourbon flavor than cognac. Amazing beer!

Just as great as the regular Stormaktsporter but not as good as Kaggen. The Cognac is clearly recognizable, together with molasses, coffee and wood.

Big brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty chocolate and honey aroma with milky whisky and smoke notes. Dry-sweet chocolate whisky and honey taste with vanilla notes. Fullish body. Mild, smooth, round mouthfeel. Dry-sweet vanilla, wood and smoke aftertaste with alcoholic licorice notes. Long finish. Excellent! Lovely balance and harmony. (0.05l sample at Haand 2012.)

Keg at Haand beer festival 2012. Pitch black colour with no head. Aroma is sweet with notes of vanilla, sugar, cognac, roasted malts, coffee and liqorice. Flavour is also sweet and intense. Notes of cognaq, oak, coffee, liqorice and vanilla. Just wonderful.

25cl bottle shared at Akkurat. Poured in a stemmed glass. Looks deep, dark, pitch-black like the dead of night. A few bubbles. Smells of cognac mostly, but notes of roasted malted, chocolate, vanilla, oak, and toffee. Bold.
Holy cognac on the taste! Along with this there is a nice oak, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and caramelized brown sugar balance here, but a bit too sweet for my liking. Full bodied with almost zero carbonation. I think it could age a bit longer to mellow out the cognac/oak, but then again based on my discussion with the bartender at Akkurat, they can’t keep these around long enough to age.
