Draught @ Borefts Bier Festival 2010, Brouwerij de Molen, Overtocht 43, Bodegraven, Netherlands.

Clear dark brown black color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate, strong coffee, wood - oak, alcohol - cognac. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, peat - smoke notes. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finsh feel is light alcoholic. Prefered the normal Kaggen Stormaktsporter. [20100924]

Draft. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of smoke, roasted malt, cognac, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, smoke, roasted malt, chocolate, and cognac, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish.

From tap. Pours dark brown with a small chocolate brown head. Aroma is roasted, fruity and slight winous. Fruity, dark malty, caramelish, wineous and slight smoked. Lingering fruity. Malty and caramelish with a slight wineous fruity into the far finish. Lovely.

On tap. Pours black and opaque with a small, creamy light brown head. A little smoky to the nose - not exactly what I’d expect from a Cognac barreled beer - and then some hard roast. Rich and full body, a little low in carbonatio, sweet roast and then fairly rustic woody accents. Warming alcohol finish. Nice but far from outstanding and not soft and smooth as I would’ve expected considering the barrel. 200412

Bottled@Akkurat, Stockholm. Quite much pitch black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is wood, cognac, some alcohol as well as some mild vanillaish notes. Flavour is wood, sweet malts, some alcohol as well as some vanilla and mild spicy notes. Nicely balanced.

Bottled, thanks HåGe & Berith! Black, dark brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and grain whisky. Mid-sweet with full bodied. The cognac here is moire subtle than the bourbon in Kaggen. Soft and edgesless, plenty of licorice and coffee, slight notes of wood. Not as direct and flavourful as Kaggen, but really well made.

Draught at Borefts Bier Festival 2010. Pitch black coloured with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel, dark chocolate and liquorice with notes of smoke and cognac. Sweet and roasted flavour of dark chocolate, oak and honey with notes of cognac and hops. Roasted finish,

Bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Rating #9000. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and cognac woody aroma. Roasted malty chocoalte and licorice flavor with bitter hints and woody cognac hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish with hints of cognac.

Black color, oily. Excellent aroma and flavor of chocolate, rich; there is also a light alcohol smell and a mild boozy feeling; roasted malts, with moderate residual sweetness. Very good.

Draught at Borefts Bier Festival 2010 - and a lot of it !!!! Pitch black - nice brown head. High burned, smokey, ashes, cognac, light boozy, high wooden, licorice, fruity, very perfectly balanced. Fantastic.
