3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A harsh roasted boozy stout. Just a decent sipper.
How: Small bottle (250ml?) at Akkurat, Stockholm.
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention.
In long: First, this is truly a beautiful small bottle, one of the nicest bottle small bottle I have ever seen. Now let’s talk about the content of the bottle. Nose is boozy, very roasted, a light smoky sensation and also quite sweet. Smells like some kind of burnt alcoholised dessert. Taste is rich chocolaty, some burnt raisin pie, a shot of hard liquor, burnt cereals, burnt coconut, burnt dark grapes, weird meaty notes, a bit too much alcohol bite for a 9.6% impy stout. Full body with lots of small hard bubbles. I can’t say I really tasted Cognac per say, I didn’t even tasted barrels, this beer was like someone poured a shot of hard liquor (whisky, rum or some other liquor) in a perfectly fine impy stout. This is a decent beer but this Konjak version is by far the least interesting version of this beer I’ve had so far. I found all other versions (regular, kaggen, Swedish Oak) to be highly drinkable and I found the Konjaks to be rough around the edges, a little bottle was enough for me. Rarity hype? I was disappointed. When I ordered this rare top-rated beer I was super happy at first but then it felt like I was just slapped in the face, just like the day I was super happy to find $100 in an old pair of pants and then I was just slapped in the face because somebody was still wearing them.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2010 edt at a brewery tasting.
Lovely notes of raisins, Brown, slightly burnt sugar, vinous, roastiness is now very soft, some light licorice, chocolate and noticable cognac, very refined and appealing.
Black colour, small head that leves spiderleg-like residue on the glass.
Big sweetness, medium/soft bite, vinous and very complex.
Fullbodied, soft almost flat carbonation, long, complex, warming and slightly salty finish.
In one word great!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle in the Alvinne brewery, thanks Glen. Looking good for a kick off, black with tan head. Aroma turns it up to 11, roasted malts, chocolate, licorice and importantly awesome booze. Flavour is similar, cognac really comes through in the finish. Some wood. I’ve been treated here, thank you. It was a pleasure.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
One of the very best beers I have ever had. An amazing beer with a sturdy and lovely bitter roasty backbone flavored by the oak casks it has been matured in. I had this at Akkurat in Stockholm in 2013 (made for this excellent bars 15th anniversary). It is good to be alive, when you get to experience luxury like this!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
(#800) Bottle at Akkurat. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is cognac, oak, chocolate, vanilla, dark dried fruits. Taste is bitter chocolate, sweet dried fruits with vanilla, vinous. Meddium body, feels a bit thin for the style but this also makes it easy drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Where: Akkurat, Stockholm.
Appearance: Black colour with a small beige head.
Aroma: Cognac, alcohol, some vanilla.
Body: Full body oily mouthfeel, no carbonation.
Flavour: Alcohol, chocolate, cognac. A sweet aftertaste.
Comment: A good beer, but the alcohol is too evident and takes away a lot from both aroma and flavour.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Doftar staut tills Konjak och dov sprit doften tar helt över. Färgen är genom mörk med låg skum intill glaskanten. Smakar lent och fylligt men extremt spritigt. En öl för den som älskar Konjak i kombination med öl.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
25cl bottle at Akkurat. 2010 Vintage. It pours a pitch black motor oil color with a small espresso head. Foam dissipates quickly into a small ring of bubbles. Aroma is big on sweet chocolatey notes with sweet liqueur and some wood notes. Taste is on the sweet side with big chocolatey notes and cognac and vanilla. Never boozy and easy drinking. Goes along perfectly with the chocolate truffles. Honestly inferior to the Kaggen version, less complex and less balanced but still a great beer.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Oilt black, thin mocha head. Slightly subdued aroma of rich chocolate, marshmallow, sticky fudge, vanilla, cognac, and a hint of smoke. Balanced bittersweet taste with a sharper vinous followup. A bit thin in body, though understandable at only 9%. The finish is clean and a little sticky

12 oz bottle from Ma Che Siete poured into 3 fonteinen stemware.
Poured a dark black with dark brown foamy head. Smell and taste of cognac, sweet but not overly sweet, extremely well balanced stout. No signs of oxidation
smooth mouthfeel, and by far the best stout ive had that has been aged in Cognac
