| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2010 Well, here we go. Kaggen is going to get big rating #1500, but I’ll give this one Imperial Stout rating #100 as a consolation prize. 250ml bottle via trade, huge thanks to bierkoning. 2008 vintage, released in 2009. Shared at a very small tasting with a few guys from BA. The appearance is awesome. Pours darkest brown, not quite black, with a creamy tan head that settles over time, eventually leaving smooth thin foam and swirls in the beer. Aroma is roasty and complex, with chocolate, coffee, anise, spices, and dark fruits. Nothing overpowers and it all works really well together. Flavor is similarly complex and amazing. Caramel, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits (raisin, plum, date), vanilla, herbal and floral notes, maybe even some hops. Very smooth and creamy on the mouthfeel with medium-full body and an incredibly long finish. Overall, not quite as awesome as Kaggen, but still an absolute masterpiece of a beer. I’m really happy to have been able to try this. Dickinsonbeer (3947), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Bottle 2007 Vintage 250ml. Shared at Paul’s house for a tasting, thanks for hosting, your generous as ever. Black with a tan coffee roasted head. Roast y dark chocolate, some light chewy chocolate notes, roasted malt, a hint of bakers chocolate, and dark chocolate kisses. Light roast y body with a sweet well attenuated warming. A velvet body that rolls across the tongue with a mildly sweet finish. Dark chocolate tones rounds out this incredible stout. Its easy to imagine that this is the base beer of my favorite stout of all times. Fantastic. vtafro (639), , New Jersey, USA
